This is the problem:
The Route Editor doesn't want to load my route anymore. It gets to the stage where it says 'initialization and loading complete', then hangs for a while and I get the Send/No Send error.
The route loads OK in MSTS and I can drive around fine.
When I last left the RE after editing all seemed fine, no errors, I could save allright. The last thing I did was lay some tunnel sections, in that area the track is buried fairly deeply also outside of the tunnel. I hadn't finished the terrain shaping. I'm not sure that has anything to do with it, though.
I moved the RE start point to somewhere else using TSTools, no luck. Just to make sure I also moved is using the RGE, again no difference.
I made a new test activity (the route loads OK in the AE) and that works fine in MSTS.
I deleted the .tdb and .rdb files and their backups and went into the RE with 'rebuild track database' checked, but it still crashes at the same point.
I can load other routes into the RE just fine.
I can of course go back to a backup from a couple of days ago but that would mean losing several hours of work.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
fG

Rather than recover a complete backup from a few days ago you could try using the RE backup files that are automatically created for your world files, terrain tiles and track/road database files using the last good save.
Before you start make a new backup of your route as it stands, but DONT overwrite your last good backup from a few days ago.
Go into the route folder and delete the tdb, tit, rdb and rit files and rename the .bk files to the respective files for example route~tdb.bk to route.tdb.
Now go into the world folder and sort by date/time to establish the most recently worked on tiles. Starting from the most recent delete the .w file and rename the corresponding .bk file, now try opening the route in RE. If that does not work do the same to the next most recent w file, and hopefully you should get the route to open. Of course the error may already be in the backup files as it is, so you may still have to revert to the full backup.
The fact that the AE loads the TDB OK would suggest that the TDB is maybe OK, and it might be a problem with the RDB. It is unlikely to be a shape or texture error as these are not fatal and are usually reported specifically if missing or damaged.
Good luck.

Well, I tried all these things but no luck.
Still, I managed to fix it and all is well again
Guess what? The marker file was the problem. I'm not quite sure where exactly, but something got corrupt in there and that is why the RE refused to load it
This is no big deal, I can just go back to the one from a few days ago which is nearly the same.
Thanks for your help, anyway!

Marker files are cantankerous things at best in my experience; glad you got it sorted, Jur...
