Trusted Status

Post by jimmyladd »

Why am i not a trusted uploader? I have been a ukts premium subsciber for more than a year, I have uploaded loads of varied things without ever having a problem with ANY of them. Now I carn't even change a file without it taking another week to go through approval. I am fed up with this. It's funny how half the regular uploaders are trusted,, and the other half arn't, and this site dosn't have favoritism? Dream on. Either you can become a trusted uploader, or nobody is trusted. Make your minds up.

I was my understanding that because of trusted uploaders abusing their rights, the "Trusted Uploader" status has been removed. Everyone if having the same problem. I could be wrong of course... :-?

For god sake Jimbo stop moaning like an old fart and just accept things as they are, and get on with it. Nothing is perfect in this world.

Actually I think Jimmy has made a very good point that is also bugging me and has been commented on in other threads. The point being that there is now a much longer time delay in uploaded items being approved. This is obviously coming to a head now with Matt being in Australia and the delays being even longer.

However it does beg the question "Shouldn't there be a Plan B with regards to approving Uploads when Matt is unavailable".

I have to agree with Jimmy it is incredibly frustrating that making minor alterations to an Upload now requires you to go through the whole process again. Adding a line to a "ReadMe" for example shouldn't require the file to be "lost" for 5 days.

A genuine Service Issue methinks rather than an "old fart" issue

How do you know or check if you are a trusted uploader?

Hi
I think you'll find that all files will have to be approved very soon.
whether they be new or revised.
not going into any details but....Think back to the hacking weekend.
Enough said...it is irritating but necessary.

So I'm going to hack am I? Like I said, I've been a premium subscriber for more than a year, I have paid up until september next year. Why would I want to damage this site when I have paid good money to use it? And another point. What has been a trusted uploader got to do with hacking?

If I remember correctly, it was all down to that chap who kept uploading his Settle&Carlisle activity with no apperent changes, he was basically rebumping his activitys to keep them on the front page.
I may be wrong but I'm sure some changes occured after that.
If I lose my trusted uploader staus in ths forthcoming reshuffle then I will be off the same opinion as Jimmyladd, why is there no "plan B" when the "main man" is unavailable???

It's one of the penalties you pay for this site being run on a volunteer basis.

Were it a commercial concern with paid staff, then you could reasonably expect someone to be assigned to approve uploads full-time, but it isn't; it's a hobby for Matt, in third place after his family and the day job that pays the bills.

I'm sorry for those of you who feel you were hard done by over the upload bumping thing; something had to be done, and a few people suffered a little bruised ego. Those who were 'trusted' retained that status, but no new names were added to the list. Under UKTS2, as I understand things, 'trusted' status will no longer be granted.

For heaven's sake, this is a game we're dealing with;I know it must be frustrating if your wonderful piece of work (which you've slaved over for three years) is finally complete - but you can't show it off for another three days. Be fair, though; is the world going to end because you have to wait a couple more days? Unlikely. Will you lose respect? Why on earth would you, it wasn't your fault.

It's akin, in some ways, to those gripes we get about CD delivery - I ordered it last night, why isn't it on the doormat this morning? It takes time - and these days, so so upload approvals.

What might help reduce some of the frustration is if uploaders were to refrain from announcing their uploads in advance - especially of a long-awaited piece of work.

Sorry if this upsets a few of you, but it's how I feel about it.

I agree with Barry. I'm just happy with UKTS being here. Think where we'd all be with out it
