West Coastway Problems

Post by GrahamK »

Hi,

I am trying to write an activity for the West Coastway route that involves arriving into Portsmouth Harbour, stopping, reversing and going back out on the other line.

I have found a problem though that if i put the reverse point before the end of the station, then Pompey harbour is not acknowledged as an available station in the path selection, but if i put the reverse point between the ending blue slash of the station, and the double red of the buffers, then the train gets as far as the end blue slash and just stops.

Can anyone help me?

The position of the reverse point is critical. You need to place it as close to the final platform marker as possible, just enough to make the station stop register. I placed it right on the final platform marker, take a look at activity 6 (Portsmouth to Chichester) to see the correct location.

Also critical is the length of the consist. You could try less coaches.

It also depends if you are going forwards or backwards - it is harder to do when driving forwards. If this is an AI item you are talking about, try having it reverse in and come out forwards - you may be able to set the path better then.

Hi All,

In reply to these points, the consist is two cars long, (a 158) , player driven, arriving forwards an leaving in reverse hopefully, and i've got it as close - hauled to the final station marker as i can possibly get, but yet the train still just arrives in and stops, and does not reverse... Is this perhaps because even with the proximity of the reverse point, the front of the train is not actually meeting the reverse point?

Also can anyone help in telling me why, also with WCE, why my AI trains spawn fine, but do not remove themselves once they've completed their individual trips?

Are you using my paths or making your own.?
A lot of my paths contain a double reverse point at the terminus end of the route deliberately designed to make sure the AI train doesn't disappear :) The same also applies with West bound services at Hove :)

You may have to make your own paths if you want trains to disappear on arrival :)

Are you ending the paths before the track end signal?

Anyway, normally you don't want AI services vanished into thin air at a station, it looks so unprofessional! ;)

Thanks Alan,

I think i have found that the problem is that i am beginning and ending the paths at the furthest extremities of the track (i.e, the black dots at the end of track)

As for disappaering trains, it would just be mice if my local operator's services would magically appear when they are suppose too! :P
