London - Southampton Help, Information and News Thread

Post by trains2 »

Hi everybody

For all of those keen and budding London - Southampton route fans out there, you will be pleased to know that an official patch is going to be released by myself within the month.

Following the 'DIY update' earlier this year, i ventured into the deep to try and get a proper patch released. Although the route will not have any new scenery (as in buildings and trees) as yet, it will include a number of things:

- firstly full operational facilities of the whole route, with no catches or freezing. this includes Waterloo-Clapham, and the whole of the 'Up' lines from Eastleigh
- full signalling and speed limits of the route, including multiple feathers on route indicators, theatre signals and ground signals.
- revised trackwork at Winchester, Shawford, Eastleigh and Southampton
- a 2 mile (ish) extension down to Freightliner Maritime terminal (not done yet). this includes Millbrook station, Millbrook Freightliner terminal, Southampton Western and Southampton Eastern docks
- a few more roads included with car spawner (but not too many)
- hopefully a new set of paths to go with the route

And i think thats it as far as i can remember. Although there isn't tooo much to see i may post a few screenies if i get the time, so watch this space! As i have said it should be done within the month, and that'll keep you all busy over christmas :D until v1.2/v2.0 arrives

Cheers

Glad to hear it has gone well! :) I might even have another go at making some activities too, it's been a while!

Sounds interesting! I live on the line at Farnborough so it will be good to be able to use the route with no problems!

Excellent news. I was trying to place a few objects myself but even after putting them in and changing the ref. file they wouldn't show up in the Object Box. Very strange!!

Good news

I look forward to your success with such a complex route.

I also tried creating and placing a structure some time ago but I never had the time to really get to grips with texturing properly. A completely operational route would be good encouragement to have another go.

yes i had this problem up untill last week, it turns out that the .ref file is in the wrong format, it needs to be changed to get it to work, but i wouldn't worry coz a new .ref file will be included.

As promised a few screenshots of what will have changed. don't expect much in terms of scenery as i am not the best 'sceneriest' in the world, but as you can see most of the southern stations below Basingstoke are scenerised (whats the proper word to use - that sounds .!!!)

Anyway, enjoy! (click for larger image)

Pictures show various Southern places, including Millbrook, Freightliner Millbrook Terminals, Soton siding, a busy Mountbatton Way, Soton Central, Soton Eastern Docks, Soton Airport Parkway, Eastleigh.

Patch should be released soon!! (Don't ask when :D )

Cheers

Looking at it seriously, when i've finished tweaking around (the never ending list!), started on the bases of the activities (so you don't get bored for 2 weeks), packaged it and uploaded, thats 'when' :D

To give an idea, about a week im looking at.

Cheers
