New LUL track sections

Post by mickoo »

Hi Guys,

I thought it was about time LUL got a boost so have started some 4 rail track sections, having conversed with Tim B l have opted to align the track with UKfinescale for spacing and alignment, l have an allocation in the Tsection file and all the single straight pieces are done.

The idea is also to build sections of tunnel in deep bore dia in steel cassion and in modern concrete so that users do not have to worry about lining up shapes to match the track, and it'll make you keep your head inside the train :).

Shapes and models and textures l can do but will take your advice on what you think we may need ( sensible answers please :) ), hopefully some generic cut and cover tunnel sections for the low level lines will come as well, cant say as l'm concentrating on deep bore stuff right now.

A sample of work so far, sorry about the loco, it was top ofthe list for testing :), the track texture is aiming for grubby 60 year use look and is not suitable for say the Jubille eastern extension but looks how l remember the tube tracks around Stratford on the surface looked, again comments welcome on the color.

Would be good to see a track section with a car length gap in the current rails to keep different substations seperate... A trainstop to place next to signals would also be very good!

Hi Sam,

A car length can be made from the two end sections with a blank 10m section in the middle, the end sections are just behind the view and thers a 2.5m gap( pedestrian crossing ) and a 5m gap ( level crossings ) so l can make a 10m gap too.

Train stop ?, l'm not quite sure what you mean but l think you mean a trip . apparatus ?, well there is just such a section for that, its in the view and is just next to the cab on the steam engine, thats a 10m section with a 3m gap in the middle to place trip . apparatus, l didnt add it to the track model in case some wanted it without, l can make one with it fitted if theres a need ?, or you can simply add it as scenery later in the gap provided.

Hopefully some curved sections to show tomorrow then some tunnel sections before the hard parts :).

Route, havent decided yet, l figured l'd get the pieces in place first before l went wild and started building a route :), once l have enough parts they will be uploaded for others to play with as freeware.

Best regards

Yeah, it's the thing that trips the tripcock. But it's not in the middle, it's at either side, on the outer (positive) power rail.
If you were wondering, the avatar is me on Planet Stooopid...

I noticed the gap provided... Just wondered if you were actually going to make the tripcock aparatus itself!

Sam,

Sure l think l can fit one in there, my only concern is that the overall length of that piece is 10m and may be a bit long for some locations, l'll see if l can make a 5m one today, that would give more advantages in tight situations at station ends and such like.

Kindest regards

Michael

PS stoopid, just re-read your post, l dont think l explained it very well :), l didnt mean the middle of the running rails, ie where the - track is, l ment the middle of the 10m section, ie 5m from each end on the outside, ie split the + rail, sorry should have explained a bit better.
