What about a nice GWR railcar - that would go down very well, with a nice GW cattle truck and a nice little milk van???

Terry Thornton (Duckweed) uploaded his very nice GW cattle wagon here recently. And you won't have long to wait for another version, and a horse box, and some 6 wheel milk siphons (although 2 versions of Diag O.1 are already available at http://www.highworth.freeuk.com).

A steam railcar is coming soon from that resourceful Mr Caldrail, and who knows a diesel one may show it's funky curves one day too.

I was looking at the plans of the GWR railcar today and would make a good first release (or escape  ) !

I mean the later design of course.

Anyone who can create a 'flying banana' would deserve a knighthood  !

Cheers

I'm game. Call me Sir CaldRail please... Just kidding. But a Flying Banana is quite possible. Its already lurking somewhere down the 'must do' list. Er.. Once I've done the steam railcar, the MSWJR stock, the GWR station pack, the bridges, AAAAARGH! I want some sleep!

A banana would be cool but the later boxier cars saw more use. I have a soft spot for the 2-car set of which I have drawngs and a photo in an old MRJ.

(Makes mental note to take pics of the one at Didcot).

Sorry I can't help with a GWR model, but following is my first attempt at the LNER Sentinel railcar 'Emerald'.

Needs a lot of work done yet, I don't suppose anyone here as any cab pictures of the GWR railcar? Anything will be better than the Scotsman

I also have the trailer plans, so may do that as well, once this is finished.

Martin - I could probably be talked into a diesel railcar at some point, possibly a banana (once I've done the 850, dean goods, shunter, and the others I have planned)

Paul, you're on.

Mike - that looks FANTASTIC. It is exactly the colour I had in my head from an old RM picture and from memory the window spacing and style seems right too.

IIRC these things were generally slow and underpowered - what it's top end?

Some Sentinels (I don't know about this one) could only manage 18mph. The GWR steam railcar did up to 50 on the flat.

Mike

I may be way off track and just confusing the issue but something deep in my memory seems to think that there was a strip of green just below the roofline too, maybe 9" to 12" deep. But that may be my mistake and if your source is different then just ignore me.

Hi Martin,

I only have b/w photos of the Sentinel, but all show the cream goes right up to the roof line, however they did build 50 of them, so there might have been variations over the years.

I also have plans for the Clayton trailers used with these railcars, so will have a go at the set.

Release is a long way off though, as I am expecting overseas visitors this weekend, and will be away from home for about 3 weeks on and off.

As regards top speed, this one will do about 90 mph, however I will be de-powering it before release.

Yes, I think about half that would be sufficient. If anyones ridden in the diesel car at Didcot you'll know that 90mph in such a vehicle must be pretty hairy! Must've been even more interesting in a steam one!

Well now that my narrow gauge route is nearly complete, I am planning on building a little branch line where all engines may live together in harmony. *sigh, arrrh* and I was onwdering if anyone had made any progress with one?
