London Underground
Moderator: Moderators
Hi,
I have completed laying tracks and lots of scenery on the Central line between Epping and Leyton. If you know LU you will know that that part is all at surface level.
I have tunnels for the Hainault section [tube] but sadly no stations.
I am trying to learn how to build tunnels and stations underground.
That way I can stretch my line all the way to West Ruislip and Ealing Broadway.

I think that the sub-surface Circle, District and Hammersmith & City (all run on the same tracks basically) would suit MSTS Route Editor better than the deep tube lines.
These lines basically have open air stations and large tunnels which gets around the problems involved with using MSTS tunnel sections - plus the fact that the majority of these routes are surface level tracks.
Another bonus is that the R-stock released this week suits these lines where it does not suit the "tube" lines.

At long last - Richard Scott has just provided something that will - I hope - be developed into something mighty.
Unfortuntely I haven't the talent to even attempt at a route design but from I would dearly love to see LU routes developed within MSTS. BVE is ok but to have a real good route underground and resurface just as it should would be real neat within MSTS.
Could I encourage anyone to have a go - I would certainly be interested in beta testing - as would many others I am sure.
How about the master route builder Tim Court providing a mighty route? - How about it Tim?
Even 'rwaceyw' is keen - need any help testing 'rwaceyw'? - see Richard has provided to trains for you.
As I mentioned to Richard would much prefer to see his trains in their rightful place - and not in Japanese routes!! (this comment is not intended to be a critical of his brilliant efforts either).
We have a real good guy in Richard Scott prepared to provide units for an MSTS route.....
The real experts could show a thing or too to Kuji/Microsoft and perhaps their next version of MSTS could have something 'underground'.
Any comment/s?
Regards to all MSTS users

Richard Scott has just produced a superb Underground train as used on the District Line up to the early 80's. There are currently two versions, red and silver. They look great. Even the doors open and close. They are available for download on UKtrainsim. On 2002-04-21 11:55, rwaceyw wrote:
I'm making the london underground from Bounds Green to Kings Cross. Is there any underground trains or underground stations I can use on it?
I recently downloaded BVE Train Sim, which has several LU routes and trains to match (see my article in UKtrainsim).
I would like to see some LU routes in MSTS. There have been some suggestions that the tunnel sections would be boring, but BVE, with its realistic stations and tight timetable and train control, shows that they can be very interesting indeed. So I would be very interested indeed in your route.
There are one or two routes with extended tunnels, such as L2 Chicago Elevated Railways, so it can be done.

Thanks for all the comments, they are appreciated. It seems we have started something here (meaning Steve Nicklin as well). Judging by the download numbers and the mails I have received (about 10 times more than for any other of my models) an LT route would be very popular. I do know there are one or two possibles in the pipeline (tube?).
BTW the more observant of you (in other words more observant than me!) will have spotted that the Silver version has no LT Logo down the side. It was there during 'construction', then I made a minor change to the texture and forgot to put it back. I will correct that this weekend. - Sorry!
Cheers
