Defining Paths

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

Defining Paths

Post by GrahamK »

Hi All, I am in the process of tryin to create a new activity, please can someone tell me how i go about defining a new path. So far i have managed to create a new path, give it a name and display name, mark one station as the start point, and thats it....

Any help appreciated,

If you follow the path along from its Start Point, you'll find where the 'default' settings of points takes the path to its end.
Each point along the way can be set to take the path somewhere else - Right click on the green point marker, and select 'Take other Exit' from the menu. You can redefine the End Point anywhere along the path from the same right-click contextual menu.

Graham,

Have you downloaded the "tweaks, utils & improvements" pack from the front page ?

Click to view more informationMSTS Tweaks, Utils and Improvements [5280438 bytes] - MSTS_Basics.zip
File ID: 9685 Date: 15 Jul 2004 - 17679 Downloads

Also if you are intending to write a lot of activities then take a look at http://www.trainsimulatorworld.com and download their activity writing guide (it costs $10).

Other than that - what exactly are you trying to do ? Once you have marked a station as a start point the path the train will take is marked in yellow (or maybe green - I am colour blind so please excuse me). If it goes the wrong way then clicking right clicking on it should allow you to change the direction it head off in. At each forward facing point you can change the direction the highlighted route takes by right clicking on the little symbol on the points. Eventually you need to mark an end point by right clicking and selecting that option.
Kindest regards

There's a free one here - just look under the tutorials link on the left hand side of the home page. Save yourself 10 bucks :)
