Martin, as if...............
Have now loaded it, and it went in OK and works fine.
It's not my usual style to say anything nice about MS (usually as in truth I I can't!!).............but this time they seem to have covered most eventualities....the process has a backup and return to pre-status process built in, and the readme is quite comprehensive.............
My FS2004 was not too loaded with Add-Ons though, it's my FS2002, which I still use, which still has the load of all the UK Scenery, Airports, etc, etc.
Still surprised that regular visiting of several FS sites had not flagged this update's issue into my ageing conciousness............I knew nothing of it till I stumbled over it.................

There were rumours of Microsoft either cutting back on the frequency of it's simulation releases, or even getting out of the genre completely.
I vaguely remember someone posting a quote from Microsoft saying that they hadn't come out with anything official position on the matter, and that until they did, not to read into it.
MSTS 2 being culled probably did much to fuel such speculation, but I'd be very surprised if they didn't continue the with the brand.

Several of my friends claim that the patch gives an increase in frame rate. Others say the sim now crashes, either on loading, or a few minutes into the flight. There is an issue with the no cd patch, where if you use it you don't feel the benefits of the upgrade, and there is something about updating FSUIPC before installing the patch.
For what its worth, I have in the last week installed the MS XP Service Pack 2 (from CD) no problems, and likewise the FS9 update, (from download), again with no problems.
I have run the game
frequently since both installs & have noticed no sudden crashes, (other my aircraft at landing
), so for this one at least its business as usual.
Bob
I have run the game

Hey guys,
Found this a week or 2 back on the net http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=26632 - pretty big download but well worth watching, Get to look around MSFS headquarters and see them working on MSFS 2006
Just a shame they don't show anything of it
