In a word...stunning!!! The last two hornby diesels have really been superb (31 not out yet of course) I'd expect to pay around 60 quid or more for that but that'll be worth it..

For me this period should be pretty good for loco's for my era, got all three baccy 40's which IMHO are really great then the new 37's which I've also got KMRC ltd edition on back order plus a respray due from grantham models and now the 31 is round the corner..

I hope Hornby now they have Lima, will do a 73 and an 87 plus a new blue 86 that'd be nice.

In the text it says "Two further D&E prototypes are also in the pipelines, altough Hornby have yet to release any details". Now they photographed a 60 for the MGR wagons publicity, altough they did deny it at the time I think a 60 will be 1 of them, as for the other it says D&E which means Diesel AND Electric so I think it'll be a 86.

I'm getting fed up of Hornby and Bachmann just redoing existing models, when theres loads of Loco types that havn't been done yet (particularly steam). At least make it a mix of updates and new models. And why oh why won't hornby do a Duchess in BR maroon?

Thought Hornby had a Marroon Duchess out at the moment? Saw one in Wakefield Model Shop the other day anyway although I think it was the BR liveried one.

Hi
I have to say...(ps I dont really collect anymore)........but I've got a Lima 31 in a box that looks just like that D5512. :-? ............think it was about £18 at the time.........and it runs like a can of worms.......hopefully all that extra cost will have been put into the motor.
Also (wont make me popular)....but I dont like the look of that Bachman 40 either....just looks a little clunky(Toy like) round the edges to me.
I expect they run well though.
I have an Ixion...supurb runner....but also very delicately detailed...IMHO.

Blame market forces for that. Certain locomotive models will always sell as their prototypes have lots of fans, hence manufacturers continually re-release them.

Other engines, less popular with fans will always sell fewer units and so are a less profitable proposition.

Im going to add more than a couple of them to my collection, they will have the class 50 drive and I hope Hornby do a class 59 or 60 next.
