GNER Class 91

Post by Anonymizeruk »

Hi Folks.

I've decided to take the plunge, and try my hand at re-skinning.

I' a big GNER fan, so I've been working on a photo-real reskin of Ben Laws' GNER 225 set, and included the small adjustments from the Mallard refits.

So far, only the 91 loco and DVT are done, but the Mk.4 coaches won't be far behind.

I would like to point out that I have tried to contact Ben a couple of times, to ask his permission to upload, with no response.

As I haven't had his permission, I obviously won't upload it to UKTS without concent.

Being as other re-skins are already available on UKTS, I assume it's no problem just posting screenshots of work in progress.

However, I will remove theese screenshots straight away if Ben asks me to!!

As always, I would appreciate any feedback, good or bad!

Cheers

Gary

I think that you are free to reskin almost anything without specific permission, and upload pictures of your work; uploading the models for distribution is a different matter - but it looks nice!

i beg to differ :P I actually think the reflections work great. Fair enough they should really be reflecting sky or seomthing, but the end on shots pasted onto the loco's look great.

One thing though, if your going to use very high res end on textures, you need to make the side ones the same. The blurriness of the sides ruins it abit. Unless of couse you havent started on those bits yet. :)

keep it up. :)

The sides are pretty much done, but I haven't got a decent enough photo of the GNER logo to apply to the sides yet! (And I've no intention of paying US$300 for the Futura font set!!)

Thanks for the comments so far folks.

I think its a good effort!
I would download it and possibly use it, but it's the fact that the model is missing a decent Sound Set (I knwo there is one, and its good, but i tried improving it a little) and a CAB! :(

You seem to mention this all the time! Although some trains are missing these I agree, but instead of always complaining about it (or just bringing it up), why not just start one yourself? We all start from no where. Also this is the guys first reskin so I doubt he is really bothered about a cabview or sound, I think hes just focusing on trying to get the train reskinned properly for the time being.

Nice work there Gary, its coming along well. I guess the reflection in the window will go ones you put the alpha channel back in.

Keep it up!

The end of the DVT looks excellent! :) As Lucazone says, the windows could perhaps be sky reflections but very nice so far!

I'll echo the request for a 91 cab (it would fit class 90's pretty well too!), if I had photos to edit I would give it a go but I can't draw to save my life :P

As for a sound set, if/when I get a new digital camera (thinking about it atm), do people know if this could get sounds of a good enough quality to turn into a sound set (or likely cost of one that could), because I'd certainly try making one then.

I guess Kings Cross would be the best place or any of the main stations along the ECML, such as Stevenage, Grantham, Doncaster, York. Doncaster is probably the best bet as its pretty busy. :)

Well folks, I have been working on a sound set to go with this, but this is quite a way off being finished (I'm very picky when it comes to sounds)

As for a cab-view, I'm still trying to get inside a 91 cab!

I've pretty much finished the entire 225 set now, so here is a possible 'upload' screen for it. I still have yet to hear from Ben, so as before, if I do here from him, and he asks that these screenshots be removed, thy will be done.

Good point :(. I will try and get some stuff to create a cab.
It might be worth looking at the BVE stuff and try and edit that?
