Post by Backfoot2002 »

A project that has been sat on my computer for months and finally I have managed to sort it out. Should be uploaded within the next few days.

Hmm, do the SWT 159's not run in larger formations?
I am sure I saw a 6-car, maybe even 7-car one once :S

SWT 159 formations have been worked as 2, 3, 5, 6, 8 and 9 car formations, mainly 3, 6, or 9 as they are generally 3 car sets although there have been numerous occasions when a 2 car formation has been turned out to keep sets in traffic whilst the centre coach undergoes maintenance. Tendency then was to try and keep the 2 car set on a fixed local diagram. You can also throw 170's into the equation as they work in multiple with the 159's and at the western end of the line, they have worked with 150's, 153's, 158's on Paignton, etc. workings. As well as working the normal Waterloo - Exeter - Plymouth workings, they have been worked through to Penzance, along the coast to Brighton, across to Cardiff and one one occasion, the morning of the Clapham Jn bomb incident in the early 90's, a 3 unit set worked Yeovil - Salisbury - Basingstoke - Paddington and back.

Looks great.

One thing though- could you use the red seat pattern from Pepsipowell's SWT 170, for the passenger view? It's just that I travel on these a fair bit, and it would be nice to recreate that.

I would try and do that but the mapping of the interior is so that one square covers the seats and the floor, so I guess it would be a case of having the pattern (which i do say myself is very nice on the seats) but on the floor also, which may make it look a little odd. The interior at the moment is not just plain red, it has grain effect to make it look like it had some kind of texture.

Sorry I forgot to mention help from Coxster, got some pictures from his dads site to work from and also he pointed out a few texture errors which was helpful of him.

Just a quick question though, reading through I see there are few formations for the 159's, ive never seen on in real life, but on the internet, ive only seem them as 3 car and 6 car (doubled up), so I was wondering would you want all the consists, 2,3,6,9 car?

Thanks

Ah, well if the seating texture is red, that's more than good enough for me- a lot more appropriate than the default blue.

I'd say 3/6/9 formations would be enough- the reduced ones are fairly rare, and people can mostly create their own consists. Do you know of the problem, though, with Steven's 158, where in multiple formation, the units merge together at the ends?

Ah yes, forgot about that one. I think Jonathan Powell was working to fix it, i think he got somewhere but not totally sure if he fixed it 100%. Ill have a word and see what he done, if not then ill just leave it as a 3 car and merged ends look a bit iffy I think.

Yet another quality reskin, Anton :)

I have only travelled on theese units twice (both times, it was a 3 car set), but I have seen the 6 car and 9 car between Plymouth and Exeter.

Can't wait for this one!
