New Route In Progress

Post by mk006p1955 »

Hi all my names nigel and im 13 years old and im going to try and build the ramsgate to london victoria route.
The last few days ive been getting maps and photos of the surrounding areas and im going to give it a shot but dont forget im only 13 so it may take a while.
Give me a few years and ill see what i can do but dont have ur hopes up because they may be shattered but ill give it a go coz i really want that route.

Dont start at the London end :) Creating complex trackwork is not something that you learn to do quickly. Ive been making a 2 track mainline and ive slowly had to rebuild all the major junctions to make them more realistic.

Ntrack is narrow gauge, from what I remember, and it's part of X-tracks. You need to use the standard tunnel sections.
Try turning on thumbnails in the Object Selector and scrolling through; only the sections you have loaded and available to you will show a thumbnail, the rest will show errors. Then turn thumbnails off to actually use the various sections comfortably.

Actually forget about it the routes cancelled because
1. i keep getting errors
2. i think its too complicated for a 13 yr old
3. i cant even build a platform but anyway itll always be a dream of mine to see the london to ramsgate route.

Oh no it isn't  I'm the same age and conqured MSTS. Though had a hard drive crash and got fed up of MSTS. Now I'm learning BVE csv coding which if you think MSTS's graphical editors are hard you'll find this impossible.

I can help you if you want, just add me on MSN.

1. I kept getting annoying error messages when I originally started my route back in 2002 using the default track. When I started again in 2003 using UK Finescale I found I was no longer getting those annoying error messages, and UK Finescale is also a lot easier to use.

2. Too compliated for an over 25 year old too! The trackwork from either Charing Cross(especially) or London Victoria is extremely complicated, and likely to cause many headaches. Plus the scenery in this area would be very difficult too. That's why I'd never build a route out of London myself. Though there are people out ther who have the talent and patience to.

3. Yep I too hope a London-Ramsgate route will be available at some point. It has to be done! I think it's not a case of if, but when. Would be very suitable for a commercial route.

Route announcement to cancellation announcement in two hours and one minute. Is this a new record? 8)

Get hold of Michael Vone's Route Building Guide. You won't find it too complicated once you've had it all explained clearly.

You have to get the book directly from Abacus (it's actually a .pdf file you download.)

We should add it to the Guiness Book of UKTrainSim Records - along with the opposite case - Highworth - Route announcement to delivery in around 3 years, perhaps?
