Not sure where I can pop this question so I've posted it here...
Within the next year, could be a lot sooner I going to get a new PC.. and am considering a laptop.
Can you use a laptop for games and are there any disadvantages ??
Cheers,

Most laptops are designed for office workers commuting, so they have very limited graphics, sound, etc. so you have to look carefully.
Toshiba do a range of laptops with reasonable graphics and sound. I have had one for over a year now, 2GHz processor, Nvidea GForce 4 to Go graphics and built in sub woofer which handles MSTS quite well, but there are newer models around now. However, you have to be prepared to pay at least double the price of a 'normal' PC to get a laptop of similar capabilities.
Consider if you really need a laptop, or whether an AMD 64 Shuttle and flat screen monitor are portable enough for you, then you can save a grand.
Also, laptops give almost no scope for adding bits, or upgrading at a later date.

laptops
i am the owner of a hewlet packard laptop even though its a year and a half old and now being thourighly outdated by newer models, gaming isnt a no on laptops, as long as your games fit into the laptop's specs you will be able to play them
so far i have got about 7 games that dont work and about 15 that do
3 of the 7games i needed better specs to play the games
the other 4 are out dated products and only work with earlier systems
but then there is places where you can download a file to change the games to they can work with newer systems, tho i never read or saw anything to do with it

If you are happy to spend the money to get a good gaming laptop then go to Alienware, they seem to be the most recommended in the hard core gaming scene and from the specs list they are using top quality components with high specs where it counts so they should do the job nicely, if you are happy to stump up the cash
