original download worked perfect, used the latest update now getting the dreaded microsoft error screen when opening MSTS, copied the files as per instructions but there was no new install bat, tried the old one no luck, any ideas

Run it through RR....and see what your missing.
I dont think there is any requirement to run the bat file again.....and it may have over written a file that is/was required.

There shouldn't be any problem with the update. It's tested by Peter before being allowed to download.

There may be one scenario that you haven't thought of as I too got the dreaded message to contact Uncle Bill.

Basically when I down loaded the route for the first time I deleted all references to the Northern Lights Activity as I had seen the comments re the wrong route name. I presume the new Update does some corrective action on this Activity as after I had installed the update the Activity reappeared.

On examining the Activity in Activity Editor I noticed the new version contained No Player Consist and No AI services. (I presume you were just uploading the changed route name ?). This causes MSTS to crash and gets us the dreaded message. After I deleted the Activity again there were no further problems.

I have run route riter and there are no errors, I have also run train store to check the route no problem, I have also deleted activities, still will not start I am now going to bite the bullet and delete route and re download,

I downloaded the update and also the latest voyager activity at the same time.

replying to my own post for the benefit of anyone viewing, The problem was I hadnt used the update/install on the finescale manager to change the trackbase, working perfect

Rather than posting another new thread about Scottish Central I'll add my problem to this one.
Have extracted all the spanned zips files to my routes folder and the Scottish Central folder has appeared. Unfortunately the installme.bat file comes up with the error message,

'Windows cannot find C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\ROUTES\Scottish Central\Installme.bat. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again'.

Have ran the route through RR to see if would copy the files required by the bat, over to the route folder, but it's still missing many tree .s .sd and .ace files. Scottish Central starts OK, but due to the missing shape and texture files I get all the appropriate error messgaes on screen whilst playing, when passing from tile to tile.

Can anyone help me with this installme.bat problem? Thinking it may be just a computer/folder problem, but have tried everything I can think of.

Birdie,
you dont say if you are using the updated version of scottish central,my problem was with the UKFS Track Manager, everything was working ok until I copied the latest scottish central update and then MSTS wouldnt load, I ran the track manager updated and installed "Installation" "Route Setup" and "T-section.dat" and Bingo! we were up and running.

Open the Scottish Central Folder and see if the installme.bat file is in there; it should be. Then you can run it by double clicking on it. Shouldn't be any need to go through the 'Run' command.

Make sure, too, that you have the six default routes installed and available, as these are where the batch file copies things from.

Did you sort this problem with installme.bat?

I've got a similar problem - same message (although a different route), and found none of the installme.bat files on any route will run. A post on train-sim.com suggested a corrupt dos path to xcopy, but I must admit I'm not too confident about fixing it.

Any ideas anyone?

Sorry for not replying sooner, I've been waiting to try a reinstall of windows.
The xcopy file seems to be the problem on my computer aswell, although I haven't a clue how to fix it yet.

I was just going to wait for the CD but when I come to download any more routes, the same problem will occur. I've tried a few things with the xcopy file (ie. moving it to a few different directories), but have not solved the error messages.

Thanks for that. So far I've found that I can't get the command prompt to work also, so there is a corruption somewhere.

The train-sim.com post suggests checking the path as follows: right-click my computer>properties>advanced>environment variables>select path, then click edit to see what it says, it should point to wbem, if it points to other programs it may need correcting.

I'm not fully on top of this yet, but will look at it soon - everything else seems to be working ok.

A possible work around is to copy and paste a copy of "xcopy" into the routes folder...then run the bat file...........I think(Well thats the reverse of what happened with the Bala route)
