not really, but it would be fantastic to drive a train over it

Hm, on the subject of brisges hum well i did start it.
There seems to be absolutley no continuity of stories abotu the tay bridge disaster other than that the train fell off the bridge.
The first version i head was it was a burntisland train.
Other stories say it was an edinburgh train and things like K. Marx and the other guy missed it by about 5 seconds etc.
Some version say it went through St Fort/Links Wood others that it had gone over the newport line.
Er, so like what where did the train really leave from?

I thought the story was that both Marx and Engels were on it, but their carrages didn't come off the bridge or something? I think the story about the engine being fished out and nicknamed "the Diver" by NB staff is true though. I'll have to do some digging around now you mention it, but one thing is for certain, the bridge did definitely fall down because the old supports are in the river to remind us (or maybe someone built some ornamental ones there to create a legend). But any MSTS model of it would need to have the old piers beside it anyway...and have the useful bonus of actually being able to run frieght on it.

I have seen freight trains parked up in the sidings a couple of times recently.
And they seem to be running HSTs over it at the same time with the limitation only being in the high girders.
Nope al lcarriages fell.
The loco being fished out is true because it was taken to either Tayport or Glasgow (depending on the story) for examiantion and then continued to be used till '24

Not seen any freight crossing though. but they have definatley got 2 trains on the low girders again, and the little platforms Mowlem have been hinging underneath are now well out into the middle.
Don't think the subway will be opening for a while, anyhow whats wrong with using the pavement and going round the edge of the bridge?
Most people I know get a taxi to tescos if they live in roseangle (or further along)

Absolutely nothing, but it seems to make it much longer walking round there when you have bags and stuff from Tescos to carry. Have often considered nicking a trolley to save on the taxi money.
But you used to be able to get a cool view into the Glasgow line from that footpath as well as climb the stairs up to outside the old Esplande station to look in, which always made it interesting, although I suppose the footpath itself might just have been a relic from when the station was open.
