Google AdSense Banners

Post by NeutronIC »

I've switched the forums over to Google Ad-Sense banners, for a day or two they are just going to show public service banners but eventually they'll start showing proper content.

I've set them for everyone to see rather than only non-premiums since they do NOT have any kind of pop-ups, flashy bits or anything else, and since they are relevant and targetted they might actually be useful. If the consensus is that you premium folk would rather not see them, i'll take 'em off so that only the non-premiums see them.

If this is successful i'll switch the rest of the site away from Burst as well (though those areas of the main site will remain advert free for the premium users), the banners are far less intrusive and far more relevant so hopefully it'll be an improvement... :)

Matt, if the ads help to finance the site, I can't see why anyone would have a problem. I certainly don't. :)

I don't have a problem with these - after all they are relevant and aren't obtrusive in any way... discreet and to the point :)

Same as.

Although I am now getting IE telling me that there are errors on the page, when I go to uktrainsim.com or http://www.uktrainsim.com//index2.php.

Also I am no longer getting the message about my browser has been checked for parasites, has this been removed Matt, or am I having trouble again?

I just came here to complain that ads had started appearing - but after reading your post Matt I'll give it a while - if they ain't popping up or flashing or tracking my path through the 'net then I have no problem with them!

It doesn't bother me at all, but:

"Georgia Strait Alliance
Help Conserve our Costal Waters. Become a member today."

...doesn't seem terribly relevant or targetted to train sims. :D

Like I said, I'm not massively disturbed by it, so don't take this as a complaint!

Is this some sort of anti-gay propaganda?

Not changed a thing on the main site so perhaps check your activex settings or something?

I am quite happy to remove them from the premium user pages, so if there are issues with them just shout, but if they work out nice and targetted then it makes sense to me to show them... we'll see, as I say, it's just a trial :)

Actually it's funny you should say that as Vancouver, which is on Georgia Strait, does have a large gay community. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Doesn't there have to be some to start with? Just kidding! (and ducking for cover).

I don't mind a little advert, doesn't cause too much bother and keeps UKTS running...
