Severn Valley Railway Problems

Post by RobertM »

I have bought the Severn Valley Railway for MSTS and at first I was very pleased with it apart from MSTS crashing once ir twice (probely because we have Microsoft ME witch crashes at every opportunity that comes its way) but recently every time that I attemp to load the Severn Valley Railway it crashes when the loading screen says 'initilizatoin and loading complete and it is very enoying.
I know that it sin't MSTS because my Cambrian Route has now problems loading up. I even have made a copy of it and I'm editing it to make it double tracked and that has know problem loading at all.
Has anyone else had these problems and if so could they please tell me what they did to fix this enoying little problem?

It may be that your PC isn't powerful enough to run SVR at th esettings you are using. Go into the MSTS options and just knock 1 or 2 sliders off their max position. That ought to help.

The other thing you can do is go into the routes main folder in Windows Explorer, into the WORLD subfolder and create in there a folder called 'sounds'. Then cut and paste all the '.ws' files into that sounds folder. This takes all the sound files out of the route. Some of these wavs such as the birdsong, etc are massive files and if your PC does not have to load them this helps. If you find this makes no difference just cut and paste them back again.

Failing that, ask your questions on the BlueArrow forum down the page a bit, they are always willing to help

Never made a better decision than to upgrade from ME to XP.

Turn down the detail settings and the other suggestions Martin made are the cheapest alternative :)
