Kestral and Kestrel

Post by philbozz »

MYT(MyTravel) callsign Kestrel
MYL(MyTravel Lite) callsign Kestral

now either the pilots are gonna say it normally (i.e "Kes-trul") or they sound like they have no brains saying it how its spelt(i.e Kes-tral and Kes-trel)

I was under the impression MYL used MyLite as callsign but found out otherwise earlier

Sure it's not just a typo/regional accent? I wouldn't have thought airlines could have such similar callsigns

hmm never thought of typo

I thought MYL was mylite anyway. Dont really matter cos the MYL have numbers in the 7***(e.g MYL7019) whereas MYT are normal charter ones with A's B's C's etc in em(e.g MYT592A)

I work for MYT (only up until Oct'04.. due to base closures!! ... and unlike most other charter airlines, we don't use flight numbers with A, B or C etc... just three numerical numbers for MYT (Leisure) and four digits for MYT Lite...
Any four digits number beginning with 8... is normally an ADHOC flight.

Yea, Ive noticed MyTravel and I think Monarch dont. Britannia,FCA and TCX use em on everything.

And the C's,D's,E's,etc and . like that come from advanced routings, e.g LGW-PMI-NCL-ACE-LGW

A's and B's are just simple pairs, e.g BHX-IBZ-BHX
