Make sure that you are using Winzip 8.0. The default Winzip bundled with XP is only 6.something, and will only uncompress single-archive files. I'm having to take the Thaxted files over to my old P2 to unzip them and then copy them back to the XP box because of this :(

Or, get the CD from Vern with SMJ on it as well for 4.50, and save yourself a lot of trouble, which is what I did for Alston.

Look at the extensions and see if they all match i.e. 01.zip 02.zip. Internet Explorer often corrupts one of them by adding an extension of its own. I don't know whether this happens or not with the South Tyne Route but if it does amend the offending extension so that it fits the pattern.

If the file downloads a .z01 then it will normally be saved out as .z01.zip as IE but you won't see this if you have file extensions hidden (the default).

You also need to rename the files so the bit before the dot is the same, remove the UKTS_1234_ from the front of each file.

I believe it's Winzip 8.1 or later that you need, you certainly can't use the one built in to Windows 'compressed folders'.

Yep, stock answer. The spanned zip files work fine if you follow the instructions and ensure the files are named correctly.

If not, then the only other answer is to visit my site for details of CD ordering - you can either go with the SW Reg service or if you want to gather the materials and return postage yourself the basic standard service. Either way, you get all six routes as a self installer on one CD.
