Class 156415 - Central Trains Green Livery v1.1

Post by MeridianNick »

For those of you who have downloaded 156410 Central Trains new green livery 156, than you'll have read I've promiced a new version. I'm glas to say that it's now completed and renumbered 156415, and features a host of better effects

Totally re-vamped interior, giving a more authentic look

It just needs to be packaged and uplaoded.

Sorry I just have to ask as it bugs me every time I see it.

What the hell is all that ****ockology (to use a Ryanair phrase) about compatibility in reference to? Have you changed the couplings or brakes? If so why?

It's not a dig it just baffles me every time I see it. Oh, and for the record I quite liked 410 when I downloaded it, although I ended up lightening the green to make it compatible with other Central Trains units like the 170 and 158 - I'm not sure which was the correct shade of green but it was easier to change 410 that two 158's and a fleet of 170's...but it was a nice repaint and model.

I think he may just have created a new .eng maybe?

Also you were saying about changing the colours, I think every piece of stock on UKTS thats the same franchise has a slightly different colour change, so ive just learnt to live with it really, it doesnt bother me that much.

Mark,
Very sorry about that it should of read "156415 is not compatible with 156410, 156415 is not related with any other Central Trains reskins, though is compatible with all others" It really was poor english by myself. From the three pics I had of a new livery 156 (156413 at Doncaster), the livery was quite dark compared to a 170 or a 158, though I beleive the current MSTS versions of both are too bright, though thats my opinion, I belive the 170's to be alot darker, it looks too bright for me, but as I said my opinion.

CT 156415 (real) : http://midlandrail.fotopic.net/p5102422.html
As seen from the pic, it's quite dark.

At the end of the day going on about light isnt really worth it. For one the real world is not MSTS and so the trains will look different in MSTS. Secondly, it all depends what light u have you game in, where the sun is, season etc etc.

I did think nicks 170 was a little dark at first, but then again my 170 may be too light, at the end of the day there both finished and that the way they will be staying I guess.

Finally id give Nick credit as this is his first reskin, and also I dont seem to be able to find a previous 156 on UKTS in this livery, so I think he's done well.

Considering the number of times I have seen these units next to each other, the 156s and 153 in Central green are actually a different shade than the 158s and 170s. Not sure why.

Older maybe?

Did they repaint the 158's before the 170's?

There wasn't anything meant by my comments, I just couldn't understand the need to state it had no compatibility with the earlier model, but I think I now understand what was meant - it's a completely revamped reskin not based around the earlier, darker unit.

Of course, no-one will get the shade of colour spot on in MSTS, we all use different paint packages, and in any case real paint on trains will be specified by BS numbers, whereas paint and draw packages, if they use any method of specifying colour mix, will probably use printers Pantone references. From my time at Centro, I know trying to get the Centro Green (Pantone specified, something like 385 if I remember) as a BS spec was virtually impossible, which is why in the Centro area the green bus shelters and green on the trains don't match. What I did when I downloaded 410 was just change the green to that which had been used on the other stuff for my own benefit. No judgement on who is right or wrong, it's just as I said earlier, it's easier to change one unit than four or five!

As for the differing shades on the real units, it's quite possible. The 170 would have had a factory applied finish, so should hopefully be high gloss. The 158's were repainted slightly before the 170's were delivered (I think, it's a while ago now), so may have had an earlier shade that was changed after application for future repaints - it does sometimes happen. On the other hand, it may be the shape of the vehicle, and the relation of the other colours that affects the perception of the shade. That said, the picture of the 153 I saw repainted shows it not only lacking the blue noses but also in a very vivid green, so I do wonder if Central are changing the shade.

On the lack of an earlier Central model of the 156, there is a tale about that - I did a repaint of Steven Weller's unit just after he had uploaded it, and I sent it to him for his approval. Just after I had sent it I had a hard drive problem and because it hadn't been backed up I lost it. I sent Steven an e-mail asking him if he still had it and was happy with it, only to find he had also had a HD failure and lost it! I did eventually re-do it, but other commitments meant it was never quite finished. I finally got round to finishing it off just as Nick uploaded his!!!

At that point I got the message that someone somewhere never wanted me to upload a Central green 156 and went off and did the 153 instead!

Dont think there is anything wrong with two versions, why not just upload it anyways, just make sure they have different numbers, should be cool.

Still confuses the hell out of me! :/.
  • 415 is NOT compatible with 410 = to me means you cant put this train in the same consist as that train.
  • NOT related to other Central Trains reskins = to me means this one is different, or fictious, compared to the real ones already uploaded.
  • Compatible with all others = to me this phrase contradicts the other two points in the statement. Not compatible & Not related, and in the same statement your saying they are.
Why is it not just simply a repaint of a 156 into 156415 Central Trains!

Does part of it not mean that it is a new repaint and not just a quick renumbering ?

But the compatibility bit of it makes no sense.

I think I've sorted it out, ignore what i said, works with any UKTS train with teh same coupling/brakes. Do as you wish with the new versions. I re-numbered it 156415 as 156410 was involved in a nasty crash and had cab re-contruction so I re-numbered it 415, and re-textured the interior, added the dest "Crewe" and added some weathering. Should be uploaded soon
