GWR Arenig Granite for Bala Hub v4

The MSTS Activity Editor allows you to make your own activities, or missions, for the player to complete. This is also how you can get lots of other trains running while you drive yours!

GWR Arenig Granite for Bala Hub v4

Post by bossman »

I ran this activity which is light engine from Trawsffynnyd Loco to Arenig, pick up wagons full of stone and take them to Ruthin then light loco to Denbigh. Everything is ok until Corwen when you attach to a L M S tank loco which is not in the read-me. All goes well until i reach the reverse point at Ruthin when "Activity Complete" came up, without completeing the activity. This is a very good activity like all the rest on the CD but it would be nice to complete it to the end.

Anybody had the same problem?

Hello Bossman

Just checked in the activity editor and there is a stop checked for Ruthin. If you know how, just go into the AE and uncheck the stop then save. It should be OK then but you will have to restart the activity from the beginning again.
I'll upload a revised activity tomorrow once I've had a chance to check it ends OK.
Sorry about the unmentioned LMS pilot at Corwen  I'll update the notes too.

That was the problem. Just ran it through all the way to Denbigh. Not an activity to try if your not 100% sober. Scared the wits out of me running down hill.
I'll upload it first thing in the morning with an updated briefing. Just have to wait till it's approved.

Got your new wagons Ian, thanks very much, but I'll save them for the patch. Don't want to push my luck :)

Cheers Gordon the new version is fine. I would just like to say what a fantastic route this is, i'm afraid it's the only one i do at the moment because it is so atmospheric with the scenery and the little touches such as point rodding. Keep up the good work.

Oh Dear, it's me yet again. I have now downloaded the file 9641, V1.1, 3 times 9 after having removed the old one each time. I have overwritten everything as suggested. AE now does not show a Stop at Ruthin, but a green, However, on running the activity, when I drop the Granite in Ruthin Coal Siding, I am STILL confronted with a Red which will not go away, and Signalman will not permit me to pass. Having waited 15 minutes in case of AI traffic, I now ask "What do I do?"

Hello FiveFt3

Never heard of a red at Ruthin in this activity before. The path is set in this activity so don't change any points manually.
Make sure you have reached the reversing point in the coal siding ( when the looped white arrow disappears) then uncouple then save game and move slowly forward. The signal is a little slow coming off but it does as you approach it. There is no AI traffic after you enter the coal siding so as long as you are observing the speed limits you should be OK.
Had a few emails and PM's from people saying they have completed it OK.

Gordon, I now have it sussed. The Red concerned is on the signal at the coal-siding exit. I was making an old shunters mistake of backing the train properly into the siding before uncoupling, rather than uncoupling within half an engine length of the reverse point disappearing. Leaves the train almost fouling the points, but as I did not reverse past the red, I was able to get to Denbigh.

Thanks yet again for this whole system.
Nelson.

I shunted all the way back. The signal on leaving the siding is slow to change but eventually changes. A very good activity.
