Great BritishDiesel locomotives

Post by safathome »

Having just got my copy of this cd i must say how dissapointed i am with it's contents.
The only engine thats sounds right is the class 50,but only in sound.
If you intend buying this cd and have not seen these engines on B.R metals a few years ago, dont bother with it.
I am VERY disapointed with it indeed.

Plus there's plenty of excellent diesels on this site to download.

Personally, no route, no buy.

The main attraction for add-ons was professionally built routes.

Thanks ever so much for the feedback!!

I have just ordered (two days ago) the CD as a number of Activities were uploaded requiring the CD

I will have to change the Cabviews and Sounds due to this feedback

I hope the Authors of the CD update a patch and follow Bluearrows example who very promptly read/listen and act on their customers feedback

Kindest Regards

Mike

i am more concernd that our younger simmers might tbe saving up pocket money to buy the add on and be content with it,but as said before if is far better to download off this sight and to buy this c.d.
now we are starting to get photorealistic models to go with the great cabs, you cant go wrong with it.
i have 20 add on cd's in my collection,sorry 19.
all are very good and i enjoy many hours driving.
i am off to drive a real class 50(50042) soon !
i think the loco reproduction is very poor on G B D.

Youngsters often have plenty of disposable income and will spend it on anything that sounds good :-? It's up to them to spend wisely as it's been made clear that they're targeted by marketing people generally.

There's the ability to simply run the CD and install which many prefer to fiddling with zip files.

I share the same concern though :-?

I see there has been a write up on G B D cd, any one thinking of buying this product should read it.
Perhaps i am a bit of a perfectionist and expect GREAT BRITISH DIESELS to be just that, GREAT !!!
A good example of British locos are on,North West England V2 cd and Mideast UK V1 each at £ 4.50 represents EXECELLENT value for money.

Recently had a look at that review.

The 37 which is included in there, I would think that that is the freeware one, and the current freeware one on MSTS it the payware version. I see no point in buying this at all.

The worst thing that they have done is gone into a market for train simming that does not exsit really. Some of the finest locos are here on UKTS, as I think lucazone pointed out in a post earlier on. I dont understand how they could improve them at all!

As some of you were saying, when going commercial its got to be a route, otherwise it just aint worth it...

Several copies of Great British Diesel Locomotives and the GB Steam Locomotives are on sale in Game in Macclesfield for £19.99 each and very little esle relating to MSTS. It seems outrageous that anyone can be asking that kind of money for the product. Mark

Did you download the free add-on from the msts official website?? It contains a class 50 and some coaches (with the cabview and sounds). If you haven't then here's the link:-

http://www.microsoft.com/games/trainsim ... nloads.asp

Hope that helps you out with the sound and cab problems.
It's all about the sound!!! :) (Excluding unit's, electric's, kettles and for now 57's, 66's and 67's)

I would be willing to pay £19.99 for a route but not this Great British Diesel Locomotives CD, you can download hundreds from this site. There is not many diesels on the CD anyway, 7 diesels is not that much. Should be at least 20 diesels in all different liveries and proper sound for that price.

You have to think that many people to not have the Internet and can't download from this site but do have train sim so they would buy the CD.

I did put a note in the front of the manual explaining that:
It is important that you have upgraded your Train Simulator to the latest version before you install this product. Please visit ... and download the 1.2 update for the product, and also remember to download at least the Class 50 loco pack as well as this product also requires that. Failure to do this could cause problems later on....
It's on the very first page inside the front cover at the bottom in italics :)
