I have opened this thread since this may be interesting, I believe this has not been tried this way before so here goes..
The idea is that Worksop is a common place for both the ECML and woodhead to interact, for the benefit of route standardisation and activity continuity we are looking at "cloning" so the ECML and woodhead both have the very same worksop...
So, to nick the pic form the other post this is the start of the ECML reaching out for woodhead, the lower level line on the left will be the run through to worksop.

in a word...No!
The reason is easy, the track placement and terrain placement would have to be that precise its a borderline hopeless task for the hobbyist, what we are after doing hopefully is to clone a tlieset and if woodhead and ecml have different tiles for the same location we amy be able to change it so we can get the tiles in place on each others routes, basically thats it.
Also joining routes means merging TDB, RDB and ref files too!

Steve,
Making some real progress here, track laying at the moment, Crompton has made me a new platform for retford so I can get the curve in without the offshoot, should be in worksop by Saturday, I will detail this area first so you can get cracking on your end, I will have the track in there but it should be easily deleted from the tile once done, I'll send you as much as I can and references to any unique objects.
What does Worksop's Station look like by the way???

I have found this on the train-sim.com website. it has to do with merging of routes so I thought you might be interested tim.

I have looked into this a bit on the route I'm making, if you are using the same tiles it is possible to merge the routes, You just need to use the same world tiles and one person merges the routes.
the merging requires the tracks leading to the merge tile to not cross the blue tile border, this will be done in final merge, build the route to the centre of the merge tile and package the route.
The person merging the route will have to merge the *.td files best way is to record the generated tiles and select every tile in a new route,(from both routes), then just copy tiles from both routes into tiles and copy world files into world folder (Will have 1 duplicate file, the merge tile), set your start tile to merge tile, use RE to join tracks.

Trouble is that since ECML and woodhead are being constantly updtaed etc it would mean you would need to change it everytime you did a fix.
This is why we are looking at cloning just the common part so they are the same for both routes, this will aid the activity creators (who all route editors should keep in mind when building)

Is there anyway that you could get the routes so that they plug together into one folder?
So
a) Less file duplication with standard objects
We could copy the ref, tdb ect over and try using the existing routes shapes ect., wonder if this would work, will try 2morrow, will post results here.

I tried to merge two routes, only had a few problems, but no activites work, cant rebuild tdb, don't suggest you merge two routes.
I have to agree with tim that you cannot merge two routes, Yet. But you can share a tile, and the contents of that tile. But you must first generate that one tile in RGE, then paste the tile and world into the relevant folders ect.
