B&SR V3.0.0 Beta releace soon

Post by robert159 »

because production has come to a stand still on the B&SR and I'm going to lose my decent internet connection soon im going to upload a beta version of the complete B&SR route. all the track is now there and a large enough portion of the scenary. this will be a patch up from V2 so its a small download that will double the lenght of this interesting route.

i will upload before the end of the week.

also i am going to upload V2 of the engine David. with a greately improved skin

No, I don't, as usual you've got the wrong end of the stick.

I mean

At the end of the day, when it's all over and finished, with praise for the man, he got MSTS and he used to into for good deeds. If you must know I absolutely hate MSTS, so it wouldn't be great, it would be great if he'd got Trainz, which is has, which is good.

Cheers,
John

i agree trainz is much better for virtual world construction. and prity much everything else for that matter. in the time it took me to make just the mine area of the b&sr i made the entire track bed of the much much larger EFLR in trainz. i think b&sr is going to be my last msts project... but dont wory im not going to abandon the b&sr till its finnished... no way. p.s does anyone know anything about this mosaic thing being talked about on the tall V2 thread?

Trainz is very good as a method of creating virtual worlds yes, but it has limitations. You cannot run a steam engine in it at all, not if you want anything remotely relating to reality the dynamics of steam production are rubbish you can't use vacuum brakes, and the air brakes you have do not work, the lap does not work the brakes tend to contine to apply or release not stay at the pressure that they were at. The DCC control is ok but then it is not really like driving a real anything. So Trainz has some very severe limitations. I was involved in the third party support group in the development of TRS'04 and as part of the steam pressure group we tried to get all the steam engine features included but every single request was ignored. It was a great dissapointment MSTS has far better steam emulation than does Trainz!

even though (to my great disapointment) i have never driven a train it did strike me that msts had better train physics. most of the steam engines i found in trainz were like driving very well disquised deisels. also i found gradients could be made to ludicrous gradients without troubling the engines much.
