Real good news to see Number 4 back in steam, hopefully she will be running the week 14th August to the 21st August (the week I am in WalesFrom the Talyllyn Website
On Saturday 29th May No.4 received some final fittings (air pump plumbing, displacement lubricator etc) before being test steamed. In the afternoon it made a series of light engine runs between Wharf and Pendre. David Jones and Martin Turner then took No.4 light engine to Brynglas, and from there it returned double-headed with No.7 on the penultimate service train of the day. At 7.30pm it took a on a two coach train to Abergynolwyn for group of volunteers.
On Sunday 30th, after three years and two months, it worked a passenger train (the 11.10am relief), with no problem reported.
There is still some work to do before No.4 is complete, setting of the valves, fitting of the smokebox handrail, adding name and works plates to the driver's side bunker to name but a few. It is currently painted in unlined green; final lining and varnishing will depend on when the engine can be spared from traffic.
