Western Whistler 2!

Seeing as Matt Carey has posted his pics of 40145 at Plymouth (see Blue Arrow forum) here is mine, though mine cover from Stafford to Plymouth and back again as I was riding on the train :)

Above slighty early (20 mins to be exact) into Birmingham New Street allowed us to go get some photos of 40145 in the sun :).

Above another early arrival in the sun at Cheltenham saw yet another oppurtunity for a photo call taken by many (including me :)).

Above End of the line, for me anyway, I left the train at Stafford but stayed to photo and video its departure.

This was my 1st ride on a class 40 but it definantly won't be my last. I have already signed up as a member of the Class 40 Preservation Society for 3 years :D.

Regarding her looking smart..I refixed her new brake blocks on Thursday so I hope that counts ;)

Great to see she did well..she was testing her new brake blocks in Buckley Wells yard, didn't sound bad then either ;)

Yep, people like that deserve to have their cameras run over :fist: They ruin it for the rest of us. I can see big palisade fences going up all over the lineside, making photography impossible soon...

Where abouts where you on the train? She was actually early most of the time, only delay was when we got the 09 at Plymouth (control wouldn't let us out till we had a clear run into the station and even then we got stopped just before rejoining the main line). I was dissapointed by all the people on the line as well, there was plenty behind the fence who must have got good shots, why couldn't they all stay there? we were told not to do anything on the train

But of course it did..her brake blocks where the shiniest bits on her ;).

I was on the tour too :). Lickey with 12 on..18mph at the top :P . No problem ;).

Now lets get the CFPS's other 40 ( 40135 ) mainline and run 'em in tandem!

i had a nice comfy seat in first as always it was just a shame as well that 3 persons on the train could not read very well and smoked in coach c i think it was still i surpose a word on teh tannoy embarresed theem enough to stop wonder how the engine will perform in august when she heads for kyle of lochalsh that will be one epic trip -hard to think you can take a pic on a station platform and incour teh wrath off station security guards and yet peaple can stand on teh wrong side of a fence and get off scott free-thanks to all at who mantain the engine for makeing it a very fine day oh and it was my first main line 40 since 2 september 1987 when d200 worked to aberstwyth and back on a service train that was also when very good day
