Nice to see 1589 still going, going down for a visit in the summer.
Shame about the graffiti on the route indicator blinds
Do they still have the 4 TC?
1589's trailor coaches are going for scrap soon, maybe the Dartmoor railway could save them?

My avatar, on the left, is a photograph of 34011 Tavistock on the up Devon Belle (Plymouth portion) coasting down the 1 in 77 gradient between Okehampton station and Fatherford viaduct, circa July/August 1948.

Here is the full photograph from which the avatar was constructed, plus some others which may be of interest.

The three b/w photographs are circa July/August 1948.

The colour photographs are circa August 1976.

Down Devon Belle tackling the 1 in 77 gradient adjacent to the military sidings.
Four Pullmans are not much of a load, hence little exhaust and the safety valves lifting.

Deserted station, almost.

Looking west at the signal box, military sidings still intact to the right.

Military sidings looking towards Okehampton station, note the 1 in 77 gradient of the mainline above the brick-faced embankment.
