150 Years Semmering Railway

Post by ronik24 »

Hi,

This Sunday there were celebrations along the whole Semmering mountain railway, with the year of completion, 1854, the oldest of its kind and still in mainline use. In use was a long special train led by 52 class steam and a 1020 electric inbetween, while a VIP-train consisting just of the newest upgraded rolling stock was pulled by the new "150 years Semmering anniversary" Taurus 1116.200 (with 2 paintings by school children). Sadly the weather was more like in April, sometimes it rained while the sun was shining ;)

The full series (thumbnails, 130 pics) can be found here:

example pics:

One photo from Friday morning, because of an accident the Western railway was blocked in Vienna, so the major trains had to be rerouted. Here we can see the CityNightLine from Germany arriving with a "DVD" 101 in charge.
