Mid Hants Railway (The Watercress Line)

Post by richsoft »

As I'm holiday from work I took a trip down to the Watercress Line today, and here a some of the photos I took while I was there:

I caught the train from Warwick down to Marylebone this morning, and then across London on the tube to Waterloo. I then caught the train to Alton station which the Watercress line shares.

The line was running an off peak service with one steam and one DMU. My train ws the DMU, so I took up residence on the front seat, so that I could look out of the cab window :)

I took the train all the way down to Alresford, passing West Country Class loco Bodmin at Ropley. I then took the same train back to Ropley:

As trains were passing here today, Bodmin (34016), pulled into the station again:

Before the train left, I walked along the path by the side of the line so that I could get a video of the train leaving the station:

There was a footplate course going on at Ropley while I was there so I got some shots of the J94, Douglas, in full steam:

I also got a couple of video clips of it as it made its trip to Alresford and back:

And one final clip of Bodmin entering the station on its and my final trip to Alton:

I raced across the footbridge after taking the video, and then caught the train back to Alton, where the London train was waiting :)

I another great day, beats work...

The full days photos are in my fotopic gallery, http://richsoft.fotopic.net

Cheers

Richard

I took the train all the way up to Alresford, passing West Country Class loco Bodmin at Ropley. I then took the same train back to Ropley:
Can I just say that its down to Alresford from Alton, as you are travelling away from London

And secondly, a group of us are building the MHR for MSTS, do you have any objections to use using some of your pics please fo detail as they cover bits we might have missed.

Good point!

I always get up and down diections mixed up on preserved railways, although its a little more obvious on in this case, as I'd just travelled from London!
And secodnly, a group of us are building the MHR for MSTS, do you have any objections to use using some of your pics please fo detail as they cover bits we might have missed.
You sure can, if you think they will be useful :)

Cheers
