Post by jonathanmlewis »

Here are some photos of 47145 and 47355 on Saturday.

47145 now on the front going North leaving Euston

47355 on the back as the train goes back north

That was something I didn't expect to see on a day around London.

Hope you liked them

I think it is but it was in that colour in EWS days.

Fragonset repainted it...

I think EWS left it in that livery because they didnt want it in traffic too long, therefore it would be stupid to spend money financing a repaint, for a loco that's going to be stored in the not-too-distant future. The paintwork would have been hanging, as you can image, so I expect fragonset re-did it.

Looks good though :)

NOpe 47145 has been in that livery since the 1990's before Ews took over i know as i was still at secondary school so im assuming 1990 - 1991 iknow the 158's were having alot of teething trouble and the 155's had door crack problems when 47145 was in that livery, lets just say my favourite spoons back in town and im loving it.

Your all right :). 47145 was painted in that colour by Tinsley in the 1990's. I can remember having a ride on her from the south west to Crewe open day in either 1995 or 1996. She was withdrawn by EWS and left to rot. Fragonset then bought her and she has been restored for the Advenza (spelling?) contract, given her history they decided to repaint her to tinsley blue (well thats what I call it) along with the original name (though it is the Welsh spelling now)

47145 was dumped at Crewe for a while. I remember seeing it at Didcot about 5 years ago. Good to see it back working again :)
