Sirs,

Bodgit and Scarper Engineering wish to announce a merger with North Holton Farm Industries, and with this merger a move into the manufacture of narrow gauge and light railway equipment.
The General Manager of North Holton Farm Industries, Mr. I. Blueit, says, â€œhe is delighted to be involved in anything these daysâ€

I must say that is good news but the new logo is not as brassy as the last. You have missed me out me in your list!

Dear Sirs/Madams,

It is with great elation that I read in todays local press of your recent merger with North Holton Farm Industries, and your annoucement regarding the production of industrial and narrow gauge railway equipment.

In my position as Locomotive Superindendant on the Southwold Railway, it is my duty to ensure servicable some 4 steam locomotives, 3 built in the days of old by Sharp Stewart and Co. and one a more recent aquisition a Manning Wardle of some considerable power. As you will be well aware it is an ongoing process keeping steam locomotives in a servicable condition. We have but only the smallest of euipment here at Southwold and I was wondering if you would be willing to acept a contract for the overhaul and maintenance of our locomotives and other rolling stock?

This would solve maintenance problems for the railway which stretch back to the lines opening in 1879, when our original fitter Mr.J.Snijder was in charge of the locomotives upkeep, on occasions having locomotives fall apart on him during their building and rebuilding! (I believe he was no more sucsessfull in his next venture on the Rye and Camber, also having to rebuild their locomotives when it was noted that they appeared to be disintegrating!)

Recent and uncorroborated reports have suggested that Bodgit and Scarper Engineering have been moving their working practice into construction rather that rebuilding and repainting. We can now confirm today, that a photograph has been brought to this office which shows a vehicle moving under its own power around the workshops. As it is known that Bodgit and Scarper currently have no other work on their books it must be assumed that they have built the vehicle shown below.

Said vehicle is now to be returned to shops to have flanges added to wheelsets, and stop it falling of the rails.

Tis' early days at Bodgit and Scarper, with a steep learning curve!
You noticed the flange problem? This, of coarse, acounts for the worried look on the drivers face.

In a determined effort to build some stock for MSTS I am showing a few shots of something from the workshops of Bodgit & Scarper Engineering.
A few photos and a default US2 scenery texture inspired this cobbled together loco; the end result should be a grotty diesel engine looking like it has been assembled from a number of parts found lying around the workshop floor!
Bryan will, if he likes the loco, be sorting out the physics and other associated editing!

******STOP*****PRESS******

An old photograph has been unearthed from the Bodgit & Scarper archives depicting what is believed to be the first ever steam engine built by the Company.
The loco was one of a pair built by B&SE for a small local tramway to a gauge of 2ft4in. The photograph shows the locomotive in an unfinished condition and if any more come to light they will be displayed here.
It is also believed that B&SE supplied the rest of the stock for the Tramway!

In an unrelated news item, a reward has been offered for the recovery of a Victorian cast iron lavatory, which was until recently in daily use at the Danesend offices of Weasel Works.
