Post by nwallace »

If i get round to it I may make a Ffestiniog video out of one of my Welsh holiday vids.

Any suggestions for backing music?

All depends on your personal taste...

I've got a rather large record collection to choose from, all of very soundtrack suitable "Dance Music".

But at the end of the day its personal taste....

Starts off with the previous evening at Tan-y-bwlch where that diesel thing turns up. followed by an apperance at Portmadog to see it arrive.

Next set of scenes is the trip up and back

followed by a few captures from the Blaenu end of things.

Video actually finishes off at the Menai straits and the sign for Llanfair..etc with Darude sandstorm playing in the background.... ont he car radio.
Having to use about 20 different apps to create everything though as some of the free ones ive got do some bits and others do other bits.

Ok help required.

What is the largest file size you would be willing to download
and at what sort of frame size and picture and sound quality do you reckon is the minimum.

Full DV Quality video with MPEG2 Audio.... 2.4Gb for the whole lot :-S

1/4 quality shoudl cut it down to 501Mb still a bit too much though :-S

What are you compressing it with?

I find that using Windows Media Encoder, with VHS quality and FM sound is OK. It still produces quite a large file size though, so you will need to investigate...

I'm on broadband, so as long as the file size is not too large, then I am very interested in downloading the video!

I like engine noise, so as long as the soundtrack isn't too intrusive then anything is fine :)

Cheers

Lol,

46 minutes 333Mb
WMV i wasn't given much choive in WinDVDCinema for the compression. 320x240 video and the sounds 32 kbps, 32 kHz, stereo (A/V) 1-pass CBR

Its a stereo camera ive been using but if you want full quality and full sound quality ive still got the full 12gig DV capture and the 2.5gb DVD quality version.

I'll get it uploading whiel im at the footy.

I'd be happy with 500 meg, as i'm on Broadband, so why dont you put up a broadband version, and a dialup version. Thats the best way to go. Even better would be to split it up into sections, so that people can download what part of the journey they want to see. They can then download another part another day.
