Another popular Train Simulator with the notable highlight of being freeware! Also note the new OpenBVE version with many new features - well worth a look!

Problem with graphics

Post by spitfiresrbest »

I have a high spec machine capable of running much more complex games and programs but when I try to use the Edinburgh to Aberdeen route or any route in fact I get the shapes but with no graphics on them and I cant move my engine because the program runs so slowly :S I run XP. Anyone else had this problem? My dad's lower spec laptop can run it very smoothly

I have this problem on the laptop (with 32Mb of Video RAM) but not on the PC which has 128Mb of Video RAM. The laptop has identical memory (512Mb) but that is shared with the graphics. So it seems related to the amount of textures which can be loaded into memory at any one time.

I haven't noticed this on any other route on the laptop so maybe there's a slight optimisation issue on the Aberdeen route.

The other thing Edin - Aber has done is crask on the laptop with a BSOD at some point south of Stonehaven. Again possibly memory or programme related rather than a fault with the route.
