Do you still have confidence that MSTS 2 will be released?

Post by XPTE »

Should be interesting to see the results of this poll. What with Microsoft giving us nowt info about MSTS 2, and with online retailers such as Amazon and GAME no longer listing MSTS 2, do you still have confidence that it will be released?

I don't. Not that I really care anymore anyway. There's too much current and upcoming excellent stuff available for MSTS to really care if MSTS 2 gets released any more.

And before anyone says, there's topics like this allready. This one has a poll attached!

18 months minimum I reckon, but IMHO I don't care whether it's released or not as the efforts of the UKTS community with the quality of freeware plus the efforts of Bluearrow etc will pre long the life of MSTS1 for a good few years yet...

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion, that the only way there will ever be a MSTS 2 is if a third party makes the damn thing themselves.
Pardon me, boy
Is that the Chattanooga choo choo?
Track twenty-nine
Boy, you can gimme a shine
I can afford
To board a Chattanooga choo choo
I've got my fare
And just a trifle to spare.

Not forgetting the excellent upcoming routes by Europeanbahn too. Who needs MSTS 2?

I don't really care if MTSS 2 gets released now. But I am interested in if other people have confidence that it will get released.

Can somebody please stop these MSTS2 threads appearing everywhere..the forum is CLOSED....they are totally pointless until Microsoft tells us what they intend doing....the rest is a speculative waste of time..it's like me asking when I'm going to win the lottery!!!

I'd like it to be released, and hope it will be - MSTS bought a lot of people to the Train Simulation scene and that's good news (why else would most of us be at UK Train Sim if it wasn't for MSTS?) but as with anything games related, there's always the un-known and there's no way anyone can tell if/when/why it'll be released or not.

So probably better to just wait and see what gets announced, and to get on with enjoying MSTS/TRS/BVE/something else... surely?

I suppose it's difficult to know who is in the know and who is not. One thing I do know is a lot of people know much more than they let on. For example several people were told last year the name of the UK route. Although I think this has now changed.

It's not until MS updates their website with the words:

MICROSOFT TRAIN SIMULATOR TWO, DUE APRIL 2004 (or whatever) people will actually start believing it, but even then we all know there could be some slippage.

Until then I suppose we have the annoying situation of speculation. We have outlets (like Amazon, PC world, Game) that have their own dates and so on. So is there any wonder?

One thing I do know is they [MS] have created a lot of uncertainty. Which isn't good for people creating free and payware MSTS 1 add-ons. Those contemplating starting a route now, must wonder how long their creation will be 'valid' for.

Meanwhile, several people are eyeing up TRS2004 and wondering what SP2 will bring next month. It's arguable that TRS2004 is already in front of MSTS 2 in some aspects.

I'm off to GAME to purchase the said product anyway! lol

While we have forums this speculation will go on!
