Animated water Cranes etc.

The MSTS 1 Route Editor can be a beast to use, but it's capable of some amazing results, here you can talk with the wizards that are building some of the fantastic routes available and learn how to make your own.

Animated water Cranes etc.

Post by sp762 »

OK - I've built an animated object to use as a water tower.

Trouble is, the RE doesn't recognise it as a pickup object. I did read the tutorial supplied by MS - but obviously, it's not much use.

Any hints?

I've not had any troubles with the ones I've done so far.

The S file has a two part animation (arm moves out, then back again), the model centre/main axis must be on the centre of the track and that's about all you need for the model.

The pickup option in the ref file should look a bit like this...

Pickup (
FileName ( hw_tower.s )
Class ( "Highworth - Buildings" )
PickupType ( _FUEL_WATER_ )
Description ( "GWR Water Tower" )
)
DECAPOD
OOOOO

I have the same prob, it is listed in the ref as a pickup and i replaced static with pickup, route editor recognises it as a pickup but AE doesnt, also i cant get any fuel out! Ive looked in game at set the both capacity to 20000 with infinite fuel checked but i still cant fill up! (It comes up with fuel point in the F5 dialog in game) The model was made in TSM also following the document. Please help!

Hi,
Water columns must be built correctly to work in the game.
The main parent object is called BASE with its pivot point at zero in all axis. The hose is called ARM and is parented to the BASE. You need to animate the ARM using 3 frames ( in / out / in ) Now the important bit......the ARM pivot point MUST be set at the out position for it all to work.
Hope this helps.

Hi, yeh it has helped but 2 things, i set it to the inposition (as in not in fueling postion and the anim still works ok, and apparently your not supposed to move the pickup after setting the settings! Anyway cheers for all the suggestions and tips.
