MSTS UKTS Awards

Post by LucaZone »

Thought it might be an idea to have a kind of review and look back at the progress of the freeware community over the last year. Not anyone would win anything, but i thought it might be nice to make some highlights. Congratulate people on their efforts that sort of thing.

Can be loads of catagories ::
- Best Locomotive / Multi Unit / Activity / Route
- Most Improved Modeller / Reskinner / Route Builder ......
- Best new talent......
- Production of the most models
- Most helpful person in the community

There can also be the boobie awards like ::
- Much a talk about nothing award
- Most oppinionated
- Most questioning person

and so on.

U cant vote for anything related to urself

All the big entertainment industries have them, its not so much what u win, its the recognision of effort :)

what do people think?

i donnt think negative ones would be a good idea. Want to keep things in a good spirit. If there were bad things this year, its probably best to let them be and move on. No need to drag them up again.

What about the "Most frazzled brain-cell award" as a result of spending too much time in Route Editor? .....
Oh, I forgot, the rule of not being able to vote for oneself, so please ignore..... dibber.... dibber.... dibber.... :drinking: :drinking: :drinking:

Seriously, A good idea, but I think needs to be "Championed" by a Moderator.

Sorry to be a party pooper but I can see this being a tinder box in a tank full of petroleum vapours.

There is one simple rule. If you download something and like it, for God's sake say so on the forum there and then. Don't wait for someone to start up awards or anything. People are far to quick to launch into ridiculous nit-picking criticism whilst the majority of downloaders just download and never say that they appreciate the model. There is nothing that puts people off uploading stuff than arsy comments usually made by people with no knowledge of what they are talking about, or how to do modelling in MSTS. I myself have a hard disc stuffed with personal repaints that some of you out there are desperate to get hold of and never will, because I can't be bothered, or because of previous bad attitude towards another model. I don't care - I have the Intercity Swallow Mk2f coaches, 4-BIG, etc, which run in my own activities very nicely thank you.

It's a nice thought to have an award thread but for most modellers some form of recognition at the time of uploading is better.

Most helpful person in the community: Asalmon. He usually helps out with various MSTS queries on here, on the EuropeanBahn forums, and even on my forums helping out with the queries!

Eeeeeeeeeee them were T'Days, I remmber when we used to do this all the time, normally a models cycle these days is - some one requests it in the wanted thread - progress shots shown (everyone gets enthusiastic and responsive), then the modeler uploads the creation that was requested............Nothing, nowt, nada, zilch, nicht........

I can remember when "Thank you" was a regular acknowledgement for just about anything.

I'd rather be Look East than Midlands Today.

Or is that not the kind of "opt out" you mean?
