Class15/16

Class15/16
I wish to have a go at building class15&16 models but I have no idea where to begin. Is there a program you can download or buy, or maybe a book or something? Not the easiest of shapes to build I know but into the deep end I go!!!

Thanks for the link to the class 15 pics, I will add then to the ones I already have. I am downloading Discreet,s Gmax at the moment,and I will see if I can get my head round it or not.Will I need some diagrams with dimentions of the loco on them?

Is it the class 15 they used to call 'The wonder diesel' because the crew used to sign on saying "I wonder if it'll work today"? First trialled at Bricklayersarms or New Cross Gate?

Sorry I haven't replied for ages but I have been sidetracked tring to sort out various activites that I have been creating. Yes you certainly can test the models when I have created them, I just don't know when that will be!
I have been playing around at reskinning various locos just to try and get the hang of modeling. I will try and keep you posted on my progress.
It would not suprise me if the class 16 were called the wonder diesels because they had atrocious reliabillity problems mainly associated with there cooling systems, which aloud for hot spots to accur in their engines. When they were shut down and cooled, gaskets would give way and the loco would not restart. Strangely class 15's didn't have this problem, but they still were very unreliable!

Build your model with flat and curved panels as appropriate. Louvres are applied as part of the skin, a difficult art to master, but not impossible. The early US diesels tended to have quite a few louvres, get hold of a GP7 or GP9 and examine the ace files for these to see how they are done.jimmyladd wrote:Could anybody give me advice on how to make convincing looking louvres without getting sky high polycounts?
