Flickering textures

Post by 166Driver »

many of the routes i use seem to have flickering textures. on some of them the track textures keep changing. Is it a problem with my machine, or something else?

Do you have a screenshot of it?
Some objects have been purposely made to flicker, like river.csv(I think) in the Uchibo route.

it's kind of hard to capture a screenshot. But it is particularly noticeable on the winter run on the Watford Junction to Milton Keynes run. The track textyres keep flickering. Also on the District line, some of the buildings have the same effect.

Do you have a Geforce card? If so, download that patch on http://www.railsimroutes.co.uk

The usual cause for flickering textures is when two textured surfaces overlap each other without being seperated by a small amount (e.g. if one track joins another, or the end of a platform section overlaps the start of the next platform section, the textures may flicker where they join), WJ-MKC v1 in Winter is particularly bad for this because a lot of white and dark brown/grey is used leading to the flicker being more noticeable, because the contrast between the colours is greater.

Remember that WJ-MKC v1 is an old route built before I became more proficent at object and route building, and consequently it's not good enough by todays standards, and it's why WJ-MKC v2 is being built. :)

Cheers,
Anthony.
