Bala hub patch

Post by stewart »

Upon downloading the five update files, It would appear that there are no files contained in the first zip. When I click to extract I get the message that there are no files to extract and if I double click to see inside, there is nothing to see and yet the folder size still shows up as 15 megs. Anyone able to help?

Cheers,
Stewart.

Yes as i always have done. Winzip is shareware and I didnt want to pay for it. I already used the free time allowed. so stopped useng it and uninstalled it from my system years ago.
No other zip file has given me a problem on this site using the same method by the way.

Which file are you selecting to uncompress. You should select the smaller file with the .zip extention not the z01/2/3/4 ones (which are 15mb) as these are the span files for the archive and will get picked up automatically when you open the zip file

Be interested if you then work ok as i am still having problems with the archive (see my post in this forum)

Hi andy the file I am trying to uncompress is the first file in the series of five patch files Llangollen_Patch.z01.zip. if I try extracting the other zip file Llangollen_patch.zip I get an error massage which says "invalid compressed file structure". So none of the two zip files will extract.
(the other three files in the download are not zip files).
As far as using winzip goes I dont really want to have to install it just for this one file and besides it is still technically piracy If I do since I have used up the demo time.

Cheers,
Stewart.

I'm having trouble too

The unnumbered zip opens in winzip but when I press Extract it says....

Please insert disk number 1 of the spanned zip file.

When I try to open z01.zip it says

Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive.

Please solve this soon...the background screenshots look fantastic.

Hi everyone

Now i am getting confused. This is a spanned zip file so you DO NOT open the z01/02/03/04 extentions at all. You can only access the files via the .zip file (file 5 on the download page, also the smallest of the 5 files). This definatley does work with winzip 8.1 but i cannot confirm that it will work with XPs inbuilt unzipper as we are on windows 200 here.

I have extracted the patch sucessfully to a directory which is >100mb but still am having problems with 4 corrupt files within the archive (my other post in this forum gives details)

I have also tried WINRAR 3 but it says the .zip file is corrupt and the .z01 file is part of a multipart archive and cannot be processed !!

 slight red face here ..... where i said spanned files the correct terminolgy for these is actually SPLIT files. The comment about selecting the .zip file still applies though

IKB

When i open the Z01 archive i get the following

! Unexpected end of archive

Which i suppose is reasonable as it is only part of the archive. Do you get this also? What version of WINRAR are you using ?

Unforunately when you try and open the .ZIP file with WINRAR i get

! D:\Download\Llangollen_Patch.zip: The archive is corrupt

961 times !!!!!

Get WinZip, WinRAR, WinACE. Proper zipping programs, or suffer problems......simple choice.

The default zipping program with windows simply isnt upto the task of comprehensive zipping and conpression. Sooner or later it always slips up. Search these forums, there have been numerous threads about doawnloaded zip file problems, and practically all of them are because people are not using a proper compression application.

If you use Winzip,it will open fine. Its a spanned archive,so by opening the first part (the .zip part) you effectivley open the whole archive.Just extract it to a temp folder as you would any other zip file.

Winrar opens the archive, but wont extract the single modules.

Hi all,

I've just d/l'd the new patch for Ruabon - Barmouth. I've d/l'd all 5 files and tried to follow the readme files instructions.....thing is i try and unzip the Llangollen_Patch.zip file as instructed into a temp folder, but i just keep getting a message asking me to please insert disk number 1 of the spanned sip file into drive D:......My Drive D: being an 80 gig HD not a CD-Rom drive or Zip drive etc..... If i click ok i just get an error message saying it cannot see the next part of the zip file.

The other 4 files i have d/l'd are not zip files but are just .z01... .z02... .z03... & .z04.

Am i missing something here?????

Cheers

Dave.
