looking at http://www.ebuyer.com - about £150

you need to know what type, DDR 333 or 400 or whatever.

Note: They are not always the best prices but use the memory configurator and check around to see if you can find it any cheaper.

Free p&p though

If it's a dell computer abandon all hope - Dell use a very expensive (though eficient) type of RAM - RD or something like that. I checked on crucial and it advised me to contact them for prices - a sign that it is expensive (and it is). you're looking in the region of about £400+ for 512mb

The memory you refer to is RAMBUS and yes it is bl*&^% expensive! We have RAMBUS equiped PC's at work in the development dept and I looked at adding a further 512mb to them and it was in the region of £200.00!!!!!

Not all Dell machines have it - just those at the time when Intel did not like the concept of DDR

Consider your local computer dealer.

They are often just as cheap and if its faulty or the wrong type, you can take it back.

Consider a computer fair......new stuff.guaranteed and much cheaper. I never buy in high street shops...not when you see at what price you can buy it elsewhere...!
