I don't know about standing room in the bloody things - I used to catch it on the 0818 Bexleyheath to Welling for school on may occasions and it was like being in a sardine tin!

Spacious - yes. They have a larger loading gauge on the continent, so they can make true double-deck trains, not the 1-and-a-half deck abominations that trawled between Cannon Street and Dartford for over 20 years....tinsley wrote:We can't get it right here but in France and Holland they run double deckers very successfully....was in Paris 2 weeks ago and had a look inside...spacious... bright...clean..and lots of seats....whereas here we are cutting down on sitting to increase standing
