Crewe to Liverpool
Hi all
Just drove Crewe to Liverpool and all I can say is.. EXCELLENT
Was a good 40 minutes on a FNW 158, and I enjoyed every minute of it
I shall go back and explore more later
Was just wondering something, where did the route maker get the Yellow/Orange crane at runcorn?
If it's alright with you could I use it on my route at Aberdeen Guild Street yard?
Cheers!
Jamie

The route is electrified but I think it is set in the late 50s / early 60s and says in the documentation somewhere that steam is definately suitable for this route, so yes!

Crane
Thanks for the comments on Crewe to Liverpool.
I assume that you are talking about the freightliner crane at Widnes. I got it from Train-Sim.com. If you do a search for Intermodal you should find it.

Crewe to Liverpool Steam
Yes, the route is supposed to be based in the mid 1960's. I guess that Crewe North had actually closed by then, but Edge Hill was certainly alive and kicking.
The next phase incidentally involves the Wirral and Northern lines, but I am definitely going to cheat here as both Liverpool Central and Liverpool Exchange are both going to be closed and the Loop and Northern lines as they exist today (actually done in 1975).
The prospect of having 3 major terminus stations on a single world tile is too much for most pcs!!

Just wandering, will you include the branches frm Hoton to Chester and Elsmere Port as these sections weren't electrified till the mid ninties and would you consider doing the bidston to Wrexham line?

Merseyside Railways
One of my reasons for starting this project was to replicate the routes that my dad worked in his railway career and routes that I travelled extensively when growing up in the area.
This means that I ultimately want to be able to create the Bidston Dock to Shotton iron ore run for example, and the various Birkenhead docks to Helsby/Chester freight and Rock Ferry passenger runs.
So the answer is yes, these routes would be included and I will be faithful to the era, that is electric as far as Rock Ferry and DMU thereafter.
For the same reason given for Liverpool, I am closing Birkenhead Woodside early as there would be too much on the "Birkenhead" tile.

Nice route... NWE also contains the section between Lime St and Ditton... it's amazing how both alike and also dissimilar the routes are!ccsdc wrote:Yes, the route is supposed to be based in the mid 1960's. Also contains both Liverpool central (which shares a tile with Lime Street), and Liverpool Exchange (on adjacent tile.)

Thats funny, I've built up to Ditton from the other direction! Won't go any further as these routes have it pretty well covered.terrycunliffe wrote:Nice route... Looks like a pretty decent route. Will have to download it. Of course Warrington railways will contain the same stretch of line from Hatford to Ditton. Should be interesting comparing the the scenery. I don't intend to go to Liverpool or Crewe (not in V2 anyway) as this is not the objective of the route even though it would be nice.
Soon we will have three routes out that overlap each other!
