Post by HondaCTR »

No i'm not talking cigars. I'm talking about the 60's freight working regularly worked by class 28's. Ive got the model done and am have just started the texturing. i'm having a little trouble getting things to scale and mapping the textures correctly can anyone help. Ive got some pics uploaded to my album, can someone remind me how to post them here please.

which route is that? I don't recognise it as it seems to lack the quality of routes available through this site ;). Engine looks good :).

Cracking, absolutely cracking!

I believe the diesel engine, despite being two-stroke, was very slow-revving - I reckon the closest decent sound set available would be the 24/25 set. As for the cab, well! The power controller was a wheel and not a handle, and generally it was like nothing else on earth...

For those who are unfamiliar with these machines, have a look at http://www.wheaty.co.uk/D5705/start.html for some history and info about D5705, the single survivor in preservation.

Also for the uninitiated, when new they were regulars on Peak Rail and after a few years when their appalling reliability record became too much, they were sent to Barrow to work on the Cumbrian coast, including nuclear flask trains and Manchester Vic - Barrow/Workington.
