Hi

I was in the process of installing this route, but when I extracted the files, there is an Asset Folder, but no Content Folder (which of course normally contains any scenarios). So can anyone tell me...does the route not come with any scenarios ?

Thanks

Well stupid me yet again....

I went through all the necessary procedures to install this route, only to find that it doesnt come with any scenarios other than 2 x QDs and 2 x FR s. Doh Doh !

I am unable to create my own scenarios for it, and as I dont like QDs or FRs, the route is useless wthout any.

Is anyone kindly making some scenarios for what looks like an interesting route ?

Thanks

Hi Derek. Firstly, I'm sorry that you think a route without scenarios is "useless". I will remember that the next time I spend over a year researching and building a route in high detail. There is of course always the option that you could go on to You tube and learn how to add scenarios of your own. There are numerous excellent Tutorials on the subject and that is where most of us started . I added the Quick Drive Scenarios to the route so it can be explored from end to end with whatever stock you wish or by adding your own stock in the free roam scenarios you could explore it that way. In previous routes the team have released we have added a scenario pack only to be told "I don't have the stock for the scenarios you added " or " What is the point in adding scenarios in a free route when I then have to buy lots of stock to run them". As you see what ever way we do it we can't win. The routes that the team make are released with the assumption that the downloader has a basic knowledge of adding stock to a free roam or quick drive scenario. There is a full manual with the route that lists all the requirements and what is contained in the route. The team tries to release routes that are of interest to the train sim community and that they will enjoy. We are just guys who do this in our spare time , we are not any part of any professional group and do not do this to make profit but put in the time and effort for the enjoyment of others. If you are in anyway unhappy or upset with the route and what it contains I will happily offer you a full refund of what you paid for it.

Must be frustrating Stewart - it really doesn't take much for an end user to add stock for a freeroam and the fact that there is QD set up is definitely a bonus.

This free route (note the word free) is a work of art that can be appreciated entirely on its own merits, with or without scenarios - and yes Stewart is so right, there would definitely have been some complaints about any included scenarios requiring too much stock.

Maybe spend some time researching what stock etc. ran on the line (there is plenty appropriate to purchase) then start off with a Free Roam scenario, sidings filled, the odd engine available to shunt, a passenger rake plus engine at each end and Bob's your uncle - hours of amusement without any of the frustration and heartache of trying to build the Meon Route from scratch...

Thank you again Stewart - fabulous work :)

Hi Stewart

You seem to have taken great offence at my comments. There was a typo in what I wrote which should have read that your route is useless....TO ME ! I was not meaning that in any general way and not in any way trying to influence the thoughts of anyone else. Again, TO ME PERSONALLY I have no interest or patience in creating scenarios of my own for a route. I never have done and never will do. I really enjoy many of the free routes developed by those on here, and always praise them where praise is due. But I will never knowingly install a route if it doesnt come with a few scenarios, or if any are in the process of being developed for that route. It is NOT PERSONAL Stewart. It is my preference. and in no way is a slur on your route ! I actually did a quick drive from end to end and think it is very good indeed.

I will not uninstall the route yet, in case someone in the near future does create a few scenarios for it.

whinymac...

Your pathetic excuses are just as insulting as your original 'complaint'.
We all know that you can't be bothered to do anything for yourself, you don't need to remind us!
(It needed saying!).

Stewart...

Great work!
Thanks for sharing.

Whoa whoa whoa...guys, please.

Whilst I agree that creating your own scenario is something that any UKTS member should be capable of doing, there are many, like Derek, who feel that they can't do it; is this because there's a prevalent belief that you have to be really, really, clever to edit/create anything in the game fuelled by providers who are more concerned about having their "name in lights" than helping those with low self confidence to understand how it's done?

At which point in the process (as far as you understand it) does your interest and/or patience disappear?

...so the only answer is "We're sorry we used stock you don't have, but don't worry; it isn't that difficult to swap what you don't have for stuff that you do. If you need any help in this don't be afraid to ask."

Much, much, easier than posting snotty replies....
