Whatley Quarry - Re-Mastered
Hi I am currently working on redoing my "Whatley Quarry" that is available in the Workshop, but as it required either the "Hatchet Hill Quarry" or "Stevens Pass" for loading any wagons, I have finally decided to have a go at redoing it without either of these two requirements, which are unavailable to anyone anymore, unless you live in the USA then you can use the Stevens Pass Assets..
Where to get a suitable replacement Quarry Stone Loader?
There are a couple of Coal Loaders, but for me the view of "coal" being discharged spoils the effect. Sure the "Coal" changes to Quarry Metal in the wagons, but I would prefer it discharges "Quarry Metal" if at all possible.
Looking at a comprehensive video on the loading facilities at Whatley Quarry, I discovered the actual loader is a Moving Loader that moves between two of the tracks and is feed by a continous "Belt" running between the tracks. Is such an Asset available for Train Simulator?
Roland.

As I mentioned on the other group you could buy Hatchet Hill.

r
Reskinning the coal to a more appropriate colour should take care of that….what's the full path and file name of what you're proposing to use and I'll have a wee look for you.

Hi Peter, it does appear so and that would be my best option to redo it.749006 wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 12:08 pm As I mentioned on the other group you could buy Hatchet Hill.

Then all I would need to do would be remove the Stevens Pass assets.
I'm still working on what to do.

Re: Whatley Quarry - Re-Mastered
Hi Gary,
The two options that looked easiest are:
1. A common asset that everyone should have AFAIK, is called "Freight Coal Loader", but I don't seem to be able to alter its dimensions, so it sits central on a single track.
2. Would be from the CreativeRail "East Midlands Coal" route and is called "CR Colliery Bulk Loader" it places okay on the track but it does not come with the 4 links to the track like it does at Ollerton, but even those don't appear to be recognised when setting up a scenario.
I did discover a loader that looks like the one I used from Stevens Pass in my original version of Whatley Quarry. but it does not have a link to the track. It is from CSX Hanover Subdivision: Hanover - Hagerstown Route Add-On.

Welcome to the world of chasing paper trails...RolandBP wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 6:42 am from the CreativeRail "East Midlands Coal" route and is called "CR Colliery Bulk Loader" it places okay on the track but it does not come with the 4 links to the track like it does at Ollerton, but even those don't appear to be recognised when setting up a scenario.
The loader building looks like this:

but the actual bits that do the loading are hidden within--lifting the building up reveals 4 individual chutes:

..\Assets\CreativeRail\EastMidlandsCoal\RailNetwork\TransferPoints\FuelPoints\CoalLoadUnload\screen_funnel.bin which shows in the asset list as "CR Screen Funnel"
I suspect they *don't work* at Ollerton because they're not on a track marker.

Hatchet Hill loader at the rear, Kuju's ..\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\RailNetwork\TransferPoints\FuelPoints\CoalLoadUnload\Coal_LoadUnload.bin ("Freight - Coal Loading" in the assets listing) in the foreground.

Closest I can find that most folk will already have, and even if they don't the European asset pack is nigh on essential so purchasing that isn't making it a very expensive asset for a single route.
It also doesn't involve any messing about with separate track linked objects.

There's this...

It's used in the freeware South West Wales route, so if it's of any use to you I'll track down who made it.

I would like to try it out.
Do you know if the loader part of the Kuju's ..\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\RailNetwork\TransferPoints\FuelPoints\CoalLoadUnload\Coal_LoadUnload.bin ("Freight - Coal Loading" can be narrowed down?
I tried adjusting it with the x,y, z settings and all that did was moved the whole complex to different places at the site.
I must have a go at the Ollerton loader, to see if that works for me. Thanks for your description on why it was not working on the original route.

Re: Whatley Quarry - Re-Mastered
Hi Gary, yes absolutely, that would be the ticket.
Which is of the various dimensions listed needs to be altered/
Oh I tried the Ollerton loader, by adding a Siding Marker under it and it was then available in a scenario I created.
I believe I will use the freely available Loader for the new version, as it is easier to line up the wagons to be loaded.
So all I need to do is adjust the width of the hopper like you have shown above and if you can tell me how to alter the texture from coal black to a grey for gravel. I can get underway.
Cheers, Roland.

Re: Whatley Quarry - Re-Mastered
Drop me an email -- gptechuk2000@yahoo.com --- the edit is to the .GeoPcDx, not the .bin so it's a wee bit more involved.
I suspect that the x,y,z values you've played with are those that come up in the game's editor when you double click an asset to bring up it's properties box on the right of the monitor--these are for the global positioning of the asset, not the asset's size.

Re: Whatley Quarry - Re-Mastered
Hi Gary, I just sent an email to you but at my end I got a message saying it could not find that address.
I had right clicked and copied the email address to my Address Book.
I have now done the LMB thing and copied my first message to it.
Maybe that will have sorted it?
Roland.
