Thanks, there is some scope, I have it on my wishlist now and will wait for the price to drop at some future time, unless it arrives as a gift for my Birthday?31466 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 7:07 am Freight is rare but a few years ago I photographed the Westerleigh - Lindsey tanks on the north part which were diverted due to works at Tamworth. Got a pic of 60099 at Lichfield Trent Valley and it had travelled the whole route from Bromsgrove to Lichfield.
Network Rail Test trains often go along it too although usually at night.
Is there any scope for Freight Scenarios on the Birmingham Cross City Route?

Just to add, on passenger service diversions you wouldn't see 170s, as the Voyager and HST services take all capacity - my reference is being a guard at New St 1997-2013 for Central then the 170 part of XC and never once being required to sign or be conducted over the route when via Water Orton was closed.

That is true. There was a booked ECS 170 move years ago, don't know when it last ran. Think it was Nottingham - New Street. It used to sit at Lichfield TV High Level and follow the last Cross City service around 23.00. Must have been a frustrating drive to follow it all the way!VPDev wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 6:55 pm Just to add, on passenger service diversions you wouldn't see 170s, as the Voyager and HST services take all capacity - my reference is being a guard at New St 1997-2013 for Central then the 170 part of XC and never once being required to sign or be conducted over the route when via Water Orton was closed.

Lets not forget that it's a game, so you can run what the hell you like, where the hell you want.
Re: Is there any scope for Freight Scenarios on the Birmingham Cross City Route?
While I haven't ran any of the scenarios yet, the route does come with the EWS Class 66 DLC (if you don't already own it) and as such I guess there'll at least be some AI freight in scenarios...

Which version?
The default Class66Pack03 or one with an [XC] prefix?

Thanks Steve,FoggyMorning wrote: ↑Wed Apr 07, 2021 12:17 pmIt's the standalone EWS class 66, not within the CrossCity assets.

DRS’s Daventry - Wentloog Tesco intermodal service gets diverted via Birmingham New Street in and out. That would run between Proof House Junction and Bromsgrove. In fact, it’s booked to go this way on Sunday (11th) - https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/ ... 1/detailed

Re: Is there any scope for Freight Scenarios on the Birmingham Cross City Route?
In short ...
Yes ... there are regular freights through new street to and from Bromsgrove - it all depends on engineering works really in and around Birmingham New Street / Camp Hill so can vary week to week (best bet is check the open data feeds which should show the ones timed but obviously not guaranteed to run of course daily / weekly). Mostly it’s steel and the occasional coal traffic to and from South Wales but have been ballast workings during the day from engineering works retuning to Bescot. Likewise Tesco traffic also on that list.
No ... as far as the cross city north goes - does get the odd occasional freight but in all honesty it is relatively rare in comparison. Only ‘regular’ non passenger workings are the Network Rail test trains as and when required and outside of that struggling to recall the last freight that did go that way.
Edit: Should have added most of the above is between 0000-0600.

Hi and thanks I did create a scenario for that a few weeks ago and tried to upload it for use on the Workshop version of Danny's joint Birmingham Cross City and WCML South route.Jimmerz wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 12:29 pm DRS’s Daventry - Wentloog Tesco intermodal service gets diverted via Birmingham New Street in and out. Unfortunately that route is yet to be "Finalised".
So since then I decided to create a scenario using just the Birmingham Cross City route.
It is of a Way and Works train departing from the Kings Norton, "On Track" depot after it has been made up in that Depot and sent on its way to Lichfield.
I uploaded it last night.
Thanks to all of you who came up with suggestions for running Goods/Freight trains on this excellent looking route.

For anyone who tried my original version called "On Track Service from Birmingham" and did not have the Brakevan that had been discontinued.
I have redone the scenario with a current Brakevan and replaced the class 31 with a class 66. It is available here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 2567287486
Enjoy being in charge of the shunting decision making.
Roland.

Hi Roland - both great scenarios (I had the stock for the original version).
One point, I think you must have extracted one asset from BRBluePack02 incorrectly - the scenario is calling for one of the GUV assets (Default GUV Blue) under DTG/BRBluePack02/BRBluePack02Assets/RailVehicles etc. - it should just be DTG/BRBluePack02/RailVehicles etc.
Easily swapped with RWTools though and in any case doesn't stop the scenarios working if you press F2

Slightly off topic...
Can I recommend the Vulcan Productions Class 323 - West Midlands Pack? It's to be found at https://www.vulcanproductions.co.uk/electric.html. It has a downloads list (see the manual) which greatly increases the possibilities for well-populated scenarios.
