Class 442 Gatwick Express : Moving It !
Hi Chaps
I am having a "blonde moment", (despite being grey !)...
How do you get the 442 Gatwick Express Unit to actually move ? The only "Manual" I can find, is absolutely useless. I am getting weird buzzing sounds when I move the reverser, as well as the usual AWS audible warning.
Thanks !
Derek

It doesn't need much of a manual, being a pretty basic thing to drive---stick it in forward, open the throttle.
There is a "rattley" noise when you release the brakes, perhaps that's what you're hearing?
Are you using the default stock or a reskin?
Have you any "tweaks" to it installed?

Hi Gary
I knew you would think it an odd question lol. But believe me I wouldnt be asking it if I could work it out for myself !
I have just installed the "AP Class 442 Sound Pack Pro", but apart from failing with the one scenario that comes with that pack, I have also tried getting it to move with any of the other scenarios (career) that come with the base pack, and I cant get it to move in those either !

Have you followed the procedure in the AP manual? There are a few steps other than just stop and go, brake mode and handbrake release in particular.
Re: Class 442 Gatwick Express : Moving It !
Hi Pete
I couldnt find a manual for the 442 that was little more than basic to say the least ! Is there a detailed manual somewhere ? I need the bit that says "setting up the cab".
Thanks

Setting up the driver’s cab
Please follow the steps below to set up the cab of the class 442 so you are ready to
move:
1) Move the brake handle to ‘Emergency’ by pressing the @ key.
2) Move the reverser to ‘Neutral’ by pressing the S key.
3) Cancel the AWS self-test alarm by pressing the Q key.
4) Wait for a quiet click, which should happen around 8 seconds after moving
the reverser.
5) Select the ‘EP’ brake mode by pressing the Ctrl+’ key.
6) Move the brake handle to the ‘Release’ position by pressing the ‘ key.
7) When the brake cylinder pressure starts to fall, move the brake handle to a
suitable apply position by pressing the @ key.
8 ) If required, set the destination by pressing the Ctrl+5 or Ctrl+6 key.
9) Turn off the tail lights by pressing the K key.
10) Set the headlights accordingly by pressing the H key.
11) Release the parking brake by holding the / key until the parking brake
indicator displays OFF.
12) Turn the Driver Reminder Appliance (DRA) off by pressing the Y key

Hi Gary
I think we both got a solution at the same time..lol.
I havent found out where the hell you found that list of instructions from ? But I did klick the "brake mode" switch on the control desk, and that got it moving at last.
Where did you get those instructions from ?
Thanks again

I have an 'Armstrong Powerhouse' folder in my manuals folder. To be honest, I can't recall if I copy the manuals in there myself or if they go there as part of the installation.

If you have any AP product and you cannot find the manual you can normally download them from AP's website
Unfortunately the AP 442 Sound Pack Pro does not have a link to the manual

Usually the manual is in the downloaded zip file too, separate from the installer.
Re: Class 442 Gatwick Express : Moving It !
There is a manual with the AP class 442 with the installer, extract the download file to your desktop.
The DG Class 442 manual is at \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Manuals\EN called Class 442 EMU Wessex Electric Manual EN
There is SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Manuals\EN\Armstrong Powerhouse, but no 442 manual.

Eh...?
Just shove that file with your other manuals.
