Class 325 AP Neutral Section Markers

Post by peterfhayes »

Class 325 AP Neutral Section Markers
I have purchased the Class 325 from AP and in the manual wrt Neutral Sections it states:
Neutral Section Functionality
The class 325 will react to the neutral sections available on the WCML Over Shap route and any other route which recreates neutral sections in the same manner. On top of this, they will also function when our own markers and signage are placed in a scenario, which are available in the ‘AP/Common’ object set filter folder.
Unfortunately I could not find the "‘AP/Common’ object set filter folder" but there is this:
\STEAM\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\AP\Common\TrackMarkers\NeutralSection.

There are a lot of neutral sections on this route and none were marked on the F4 HUD in the following scenario:
APC325EP: 1M19 19:47 Doncaster RMT - Willesden PRDC – for the ECML London to Peterborough route –
So, I opened the TS BUILD editor for this scenario -
I clicked on the left-hand rolling stock fly-out, - the object set filter which looks like a blue box with an orange arrow to the right of it.
I opened the right-hand fly-out and selected ‘AP’ from the drop-down menu.
I then scrolled to the bottom of the list until I found this "Track Markers" – if I ticked the second and third box and saved the scenario would the 'Neutral Sections' now be marked on the F4 HUD – or – do I need to do something else?

The object set filter listing is what shows as available for use when building/editing, but only concerns itself with the Provider and Product folders in the Assets folder.

Going from the path to the Track Markers folder,

AP\Common\TrackMarkers\

you shouldn't see that Track Markers folder in the filter list, just AP and Common.

I'd say the first thing to check is that you don't have an erroneous ..\AP\TrackMarkers folder; if you do have such a folder, checking a .bin from one of the assets it contains would show you the correct pathing to the asset's .GeoPcDx file.

If it shows

Code: Select all

					<GeometryID d:type="cDeltaString">AP\Common\TrackMarkers\
you'd then know the TrackMarkers folder should be in the Common folder, not the AP folder.

I received this reply from AP which reinforces what you state above:
What you need to do is what you describe at the bottom of your e-mail but do not select TrackMarkers. Select ‘Common’ as directed in the manual. This is what is meant by selecting the AP/Common object set filter in the scenario editor. They will then appear in the left-hand scenario editor menu under the semaphore signal icon.

Please note that neutral sections don’t appear in the F4 HUD. You need to look out for the lineside signage.
So, it would appear that you can't show the neutral sections in the F4 HUD - BUT - I have seen scenarios where they do appear in the F4 HUD.
TS is so confusing!!
Thanks again

Can you place a standard destination marker over the neutral section?

As Steve says, a marker on the track does the job, either in the route or as a scenario specific marker--perhaps AP meant that as supplied, the route doesn't have the neutral sections marked rather than it being a case of the AP stuff not working as you/we would want or expect.

You may also need the neutral section adding to the player train's instructions as a waypoint (little red flag) in the scenario editor.
