Have you read the credits in the manual for information about who did the cab?
I had - but it is possible that what has or has not been included in terms of functionality will have been tied down by specification and finance in advance of any modelling and scripting being commenced. That the cab was constructed by Waggonz does not predetermine function or, for that matter, the limit of the functionality they might otherwise have introduced...

Doutless an opportunity for an Enhancement Pack...

Personally I am happier with semi realistic operation in a cab that has all the bells and whistles that are needed to make it look pretty and that allows me to pretend I have some control - I do like to hear an increase in exterior sound if I open a cab window but I don't want to be permamently in a state of panic trying to work out why the emergency brakes have just applied - followed by "How the ~@*% do I get this thing moving again - oh nevermind I will try a different scenario/route..." :D

Enjoying the route though...

Damn!!...time consuming job then; assign a number, save, test, note it down...…. assign another number, save, test, note it down…...ad infinitum....
You could create a Free Roam scenario, place a number of trains in a line, set the unit numbers in sequential order then note down the destinations from the scenario. Then edit for the next set of destinations (you could just change the numbers in TS Tools). At least do a group at a time then, rather than individually.
On the other hand you could ask DTG support if they could send you a list. It might even make it into the manual if they realise there's a demand for it.

I think we are so spoiled for sounds in Train Simulator now, so that when a new release has sounds which aren't up to the same standard they do stand out like a sore thumb, if indeed sounds bother you, for many they aren't important. I think DTG sounds have improved a lot over the years but from this release it appears they may have taken a backward step.

I don't have it yet, I have watched a few videos of it over the weekend and the sounds of the 323 are a bone of contention, and not all the reviewers I would say are biased against DTG. You can hear on the streams there is a missing part of the sounds and the lack of decent run sounds, an area where the sim has really improved over the years, in my opinion is enough for me not to purchase the route at the moment. I suspect the gap in the sounds is just an error.

The 323's have been the traction for the cross city line for nearly 30 years so I wouldn't want to drive a class 319 in LM livery as a substitute for example. So, it is the sounds which are stopping me purchasing it at the moment. The route looks very nice and the model looks nice. I will get it if when/if there is a patch to improve the sounds of if AP or someone else makes a sound pack.

morricom wrote: Sun Mar 21, 2021 11:54 pm Don't forget, if the dlc is that bad, presumably you would have discovered that early on while trying it, if so you can always get a refund of Steam if you have used it for less than 2 hours

Ian
I read somewhere else that Steam takes the whole game time into account not the DLC's purchase time, with most of us nearing or way past the thousands of hours I'm guessing that's not going to help refund requests (if what I read was true of course)
The clock for a particular DLC starts when currently playing the game, not total usage so you are fine to "buy and try".

Apparently DTG are in the process of sharing a manual addendum publicly but have given me a copy which they said I could share here

Yes, my bad.
I should have realised and looked at the wrong section in the Wikipedia same link you posted.
I had driven the Manchester ones well before then - Doh!

749006 wrote: Sun Mar 21, 2021 5:10 pm If you were driving any Electric traction and the sounds just cut out for a second or two when accelerating would that be acceptable?
My experience with this game is that sounds cutting out is a system issue rather than specific to any particular item of stock, and in the handful of runs I've done with this unit so far I haven't experienced that any more than "usual" for my setup. That is to say, it is a minor annoyance, but one which I've become rather accustomed to over the years and therefore I don't let it spoil my enjoyment :)
Another unit I have is the 365 which has a different motor sound but not far out from the 323
The 365 motor sound on acceleration does not have any blank sections - unlike on a number of videos of this 323

If they can get the sounds smooth on other units why not this one?

Re the last post, agree that the sounds of the Class 365 are similar. in particular using the Armstrong Powerhouse sounds and as an interim measure - if I could get the sounds from that on to the Class 323 would be more than happy. But the two have completely different files and I'm only really capable of renaming DAV files to make them work in different models. Aside from the gaps in the start up sound, really missing is proper track run sounds and it's completely silent passing over points - so if someone is able to do a temporary fic using the AP Class 365 sounds, then I for one would find it much more driveable and enjoyable.

Looks to be in a numerical order that matches the alphabetical order to me, though having another look at the original manual from the Steam page that seems to list the destinations as blocks of 13 side by side rather than a straight forward up/down list.

Yes, I'm not sure if my counting was off or if the formatting is slightly different, but my issue is resolved now anyway :)

There is a copy of a reply from DTG acknowledging a problem with the Class 323 Sounds on the DTG Forum

I've got a sound pack in the works guys, the route is smashing, the cab is nice, the sounds horrendous. I worked these units for many years and was so disappointed I had to do something. You will need the AP365 and AP390 EPs to get the cab and bogie sounds.

Here's a wee teaser... No gaps in traction sounds whatever notch you're in. I'll update my YouTube channel when it's ready.

Whilst any improvement is a "good thing", 20 quid if you don't already have/don't particularly want those packs could be seen as a bit much.

Gary, DTG didn't put in *any*! run, bogie or flange sounds. They are not there. Many people want those things, so I give an alternative to the silence. My pack isn't compulsory and I chose packs with similar sounds to the 323 which have been available for quite some time so people who have an interest in EMUs quite likely already own these AP packs.

I could go out and buy recording equipment, and spent a lot more time recording my own sounds , then I could charge probably a tenner to recoup my costs.

I was creating this for my own pleasure, only as an afterthough I decided it might be nice to share it.

If you don't have the prerequisite AP packs, and don't want them fair enough, complain to DTG and wait for them to fix the problem.

Anyone from the Midlands know the cross city NEEDS the 323, nothing else since 1995 has ever run on it.

Cheers
Steve
